How often do your kids clean their bedrooms?

Do you require your child/children to clean their room every day? Is it okay for the room to be messy for a few days and clean it once a week or something? I am trying to figure out if I am being too obsessive?

I dont make my boys clean there room everyday but if they would like to recieve a tick on their charts then i expect them to spend 10 mins each day jus makin sure toys r put away...beds r made...curtains r open. They r 6 n 9 so i think this is good enough for them. I like to go in one a month n drag all there toys out n put them in correct boxes n places. I dont expect them to do this as they r kids and not do it as good as me haha!! . If they make a mess then just to help mummy tidy rnd as im not super mum lol.....they genrally help out and they love havin a cloth n find stuff to clean in there rooms :)

Hi LaNette
I don't that there is really a right or wrong. Personally I try not to be on my daughters case about her room on a daily basis. Unless it's really bad I let her get away with cleaning it once a week. One thing that is important for me is that she cleans up anything that she takes out of her room. I used to do it myself but at the end of the day its a never ending story. So what I told her is that she needs to clean up all toys that she plays with before she takes anything new out. It took some work but eventually she started doing it with out me having to say more than "ok bed time". Of course every now and then she will test me but I explain to her that if she can do it at school she can do it at home to. Since I've started that it's improved the state of her room by a lot. That's what worked for me. I think it's important that we keep in mind that they are just kids so our clean is not their clean. As long as they are participating and pulling their end it's a great start.
I hope that helps.
