Looking up inexpensive birthday ideas now. Considering an ice-skating/tailgate party on NY's day -stroke of midnight, after fireworks, or indoors at our church. Our immed. fam. ice-skates ev.yr on their b-day & this is the 1st time considering inviting their class... the rink is 45+ min away, @midngt, for 6 yr olds... conflicted.

I agree how can a 6 year old stay up past mid night? I sure can't even on New Year's Eve. Stick with the church. Its nice you have a tradition and I can't believe that parents would go for this. You can make it fun at the church and have confetti and balloons fall down off the ceiling at anytime of the day or night if you are thinking of New Years Eve for the kids. You can even have someone dress up like Barbie and give the little girls manicures. Have pizza or whatever they all like take a vote.

Thank you Patricia. That's 2 for a 'no-go' on such an event,@midnight for 6yr olds. It all makes sense & is trying, one way or another. I appreciate the marshmallow/local skating/bingo advice. I will begin some re-planning.
