I am debating between the Leapfrog explorer and the new 6 in one IXL handheld. Anyone have either of these and any reccomendations, thanks.

I have 5 yr old twin daughters and bought them Leapster Explorers for their birthday in October and they love it. All the games are learning and you can download some additiaonal things from the website. There are one's that have them trace letters etc. Both girls love it and one of the best things about it is that you can set it by grade level. I have theirs set at Pre-K right now and it's the right difficulty level. I don't know anything about the IXL so I can't make a comparison. They love it though.

i vote ixl, that teaches you many more things than leapfrog. ixl teaches you how to write your letters, leapfrog does not. the leapfrog thing in my opinion is for an older child who has certain things mastered already. if youre wanting to teach your child letters and what not with this toy then get the ixl. im buying one for my daughter for christmas and the leapfrog next year.

My son has the Leapster and he loves it and has had it since last Christmas. I love it because it is only learning games but they make them fun.

I just bought my son the VTech Mobigo. I'm giving it to him next week for his birthday. I'll let you know how that one is but I'm very excited about it.
