MY SON WILL GET IN BED MOST OF THE TIME WITH LITTLE PROBLEMS. OTHER TIMES HE WILL CRY HIM SELF TO SLEEP. HE IS IN FIRST GRADE AND HE GETS UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND SNEAKES INTO MY BED. IF HE SEES ME WAKE UP HE WILL SAY HE IS SCARED OR THAT HE HAD A BAD DREAM. I ALWAYS STAND FIRM AND TAKE HIM BACK IN HIS ROOM BUT IT NEVER FAILS HE IS RIGHT BACK OVER A FEW MINUTES LATER. I NEVER GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. I WORK A 9 TO 5. IM UP AT 6 TO GET HIM READY FOR SCHOOL. AND I HAVE AN HOUR COMMUTE TO WORK AND AN HOUR AND A HALF TO 2 HOUR RIDE HOME. I GET HOME AND DO HOMEWORK WITH HIM AND MAKE DINNER, WE READ AND I SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH HIM AS POSSIBLE DURING THE WEEK. AND I DEVOTE MY WEKENDS TO HIM. IM ALSO TAKING ONLINE CLASSES FOR SCHOOL. IM 27 YEARS OLD AND IM AT MY WITS END. I AM SOOOOOOO DRAINED. I GET LIKE 5 HOURS OF SLEEP A NIGHT OR LESS. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! ANY ADVICE??? THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS

i have a 3yr old and i remeber as a kid i wouldnt stay in bed either so i am a little easy on him about it, he also has night terrors too. but this worked for me. i started letting him pick where he wanted to sleep anywhere but my bed or my room. he started on the floor by my door (oh he was allowed his blanket n pillow but in the morring he had to take em back to his room) and so on some nights the living room floor while i was watching tv late (he just wanted to be close to where ever i was) well anyway long story of camping thru out the house, he finally ended up just going into his room in his bed all on his own. so i know it goes against everything said and written on how to help with sleep but it helped with his comfort, to be able to pick his safe place to sleep. now me i was sleeping on my parents couches till i was 18 i refused my bed... so its a 50/50 of what can happen...and if you are totally against letting your lil guy have the house as his personal camp out try talkin with him about his room and what he would like it to be.. what would help him not be scared. change it around switch his bed from one side to the other. find his safe zone. good luck.

I am going to try the suggestions from Michelle myself, I have the same issue with my 5 almost 6 year old, expect he never goes to bed without a fuss. It is everynight!

First I want to say Congratulations on taking online classes. I am taking classes through Kaplan Online University.

You might try telling him if he wants to come into your room in the middle of the night he has to sleep on the floor. Be sure to let him know where on the floor he can sleep so you do not step on him when you wake up. I have a 9 year old, 7 year old and 6 year old and they all use to end up in bed with my husband and I at the same time...talk about croweded. We moved them all out one at a time. First we told the 9 year old no more sneaking into bed with us. It was the floor or her bed but ours was off limits. Once we got her broke we took it up with the 7 year old. Our 6 year old was the hardest because she is the baby but after a few weeks of no more sneaking into bed but you may sleep on the floor they all got the message. We have been kid free for about a year now.

Good luck.
