She told me and said what do I tell him mom? Don't you think that's a tad young?

Yes I was pleased she told me. I didn't make a big stink about it. I said "What do you think you should do?" She replied "I should tell him I am not allowed". (good answer). I don't want her to be afraid to talk to me about those things...so taking the "What do you think" approach was all I could think to say.

Of course its a tad young, but I've noticed that kids are starting lots of things young now a ays.. My daughter is 10 and sai she was going out wih a boy in her class. I told her that she was too young for going out and to tell him I said they could only be friends. I don't like the issue of boys already but like I said kids are seeing so much more on t.v. and internet now, then when I was young so of course it is going to start them thinking about boys etc. too soon.. But what do you do, except try to monitor and supervise them as much as I can and she knows that it isn't okay yet! At least your daughter told you, I have a feeling mine wouldn't have said anything to me directly, she was talking about it with her cousin and it came out!!!

Ditto Sherri. Groups of kids that I know and trust will be ok for younger, but actual dating.... not til 16. My 9 year olds already know that rule quite well.

Yep here too! She told him she wasn't allowed. I was just shocked at such a young age. I'm so not ready for that!

The rule in our home is not before 16. So that would squashed pretty fast.
