Just recently my son who will be 5 in 2 months started having Bowel Movement accidents in his pants. when I ask him to see if he had an accident he gets all embarrassed and crys and wont let me look in his pants. this has been happening like 2 times a day everyday. if he goes through a whole day of no accidents I praise him and tell him what a big boy he his and what a good job it is that he didnt make an accident. I dont know what else to do or what to say to him when he has an accident. He has absolutely no problem with peeing its just his bowel movements that he has problems with. if any one has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated thank you very much

Sounds like something you should mention to the doctor - my daughter has been having pipi accidents since her little sister was born I'm pretty sure it is for attention but sometimes I too wonder if there's a medical condition or some kind of problem - still haven't been able to stop it for over one year - praising, reminders, encouragement nor punishment have worked for me. The doctor simply recommended reminding her constantly to go to the bathroom but that hasn't worked either especially since she's in school when it happens sometimes.

this can be a normal occurrance. But if I were you ask the doctor about it, if it keep happening to rule out any problems.

His father and I were living together then his father cheated on me twice two years ago we are still living together but his daddy has been going on vacations and staying out and not really spending to much time with Cory I try to compensate for it but i can only do so much. His accidents have slowed down but havent stopped I will talk to a Dr about it. I also keep telling him even though Daddy isnt home all the time he still loves him and that no matter what he always has his Mommy and I love him a lot

I agree with the other moms it could be medical or he could be too involved with what he is doing to notice he has to go. I have also heard other people say there kids had more accidents after a tramatic expieriance in the family.

is this recent was he fully trained before? If it is new I would be consulting a physician because it is not normal for a child of that age to be having issues with their bowels....

well for me my son is 4 and he is doing it as acting out since i left his father most of the time the reason to do that is for attention in one way or another sit down and ask him if something is wrong and make sure he knows he can tell mommy anything it works with my son and when he does do it make sure u don't scold him tell him its ok acidents happen and have him help u clean him up and remind him that big boys potty in the toilet and another way to get him to go in the toilet is to let him know he will get a treat my son gets one tooties roll for going potty in the toilet so something simple to incuridge him helps......

I have a daughter that is 5 and we still deal with occasional accidents and only poo! I realized that she was holding it in for days and then would get backed up and really embarrassed about having the accidents! so we now have a poop chart and she gets a sticker each day she poops and gets a surprise when she fills the chart! we haven't had any accidents since the poop chart began 4 weeks ago!!

My nephew used to have this problem. Apparently it is a common medical condition with boys. I would ask a doctor.

Might be worth getting some advice from a dr too. It's just that I've heard of kids doing this and it's because they can't help it, something to do with the muscles around the anus. Could also be that he's just not realising the difference between pooping and farting IYKWIM? You don't want it going the other way though, so that he holds on and ends up constipated.

Just thinking, twice a day could be something medical, even if it is food related. Before you see a dr perhaps keep a food and toilet diary for a few days so you can show them.

Have you had any big event in the family or major change in his diet? My son had stomachaches all the time after a death in the family. If it continues you may want to talk to your doctor just in case there is a problem.

All I can say is that the 2 times a day he has his accidents are probably around the same time Right? If so, I would watch him and run him to the bathroom and have him sit on the toilet so he gets a feel for running to the bathroom. Is he busy playing or sleeping???
