I divorced from my husband a little over a year ago. I was with him for 13 years. My son is now showing very different behavior. He pretends he is killing stuffed animals, and says he has thoughts every day about killing animals - and explained to me how he would do it. He also made a point to tell me that when he has these thoughts they're not about people. However, further in the conversation he asked me what he should do when someone bullies him over and over and a thought comes to him about killing that person.

Can someone PLEASE HELP! Are there any counselors that specialize in this type of behavior in children? I am so worried.

I agree with Kristen, Talk to his doctor. There are many counselors that specialize in this. Your doctor should be able to refer you to a good one. I do know that a divorce can sometimes change the child's behavior drastically. Good luck with all of this.

Have you asked him if he is being bullied? I would definitely talk to his doctor about this.

Yes, talk to his pediatrician. Also, talk to his teacher and the school psychologist. It sounds like you think it is a combination of the divorce and bullies. These can be very upsetting factors for an adult, let alone a child. You are right to be concerned and to seek help for him ASAP.
