I'm having BIG trouble with the thought of my 8yr old daughter going on the school camp. It is only one night and it is at a local outdoor ed centre. However I still don't believe in sleep overs and can't see why one earth I would send her out to a school camp! She will of course be incredibly disappointed if she doesn't go! HELP.

Just to let you know, the teacher has agreed to let my daughter attend as a day student only. I will collect her after the evening meal and drop back in time for breakfast. I think that is a good compromise, so she gets to enjoy the activities but is still at home for the night.

If you can't go you should see if you know one of the parents that are going. I wouldn't let my child if I couldn't go or someone I trust was going to be there. Will she remember this in 10 years probably not. You could make that night special for her at home and do fun things with her that you normally wouldn't. Hope I could help some, good luck.

Thanks for replying Kristin. I am too late to go as a helper - apparently parents put their names down months ago LOL. And I thought trying to decide on a puppy (or not) was difficult! :)

Can you volunteer to help? They may need more drivers and chaperones.

But you got to go with your gut, if you can't be there to help and it doesn't feel right to you, don't do it. She'll get over the disappointment.
