I marked this as a conversation, but in a way it is a question. I say this because I am open, and asking for advice, but also sharing this information as a sort of vent. I have four children who all attend the same elementary school. One should be in the sixth grade, but was held back a year. I have a six year old who has a lot of behavior issues. I told the school in December that since they were calling me in for a conference monthly about his behavior that I would have him tested for adhd. Well at the local clinic that does this it is a long involved process. First you have to start therapy, then after the therapist sees the problem, and tries to work with the child he/she will make a referral for the testing. This appointment can take some time to get, and then could take several appointments to complete. Then there is a waiting list to see the psychiatrist if a diagnosis is made, and a referral to the psychiatrist is made. We are talking several months process. The school was on my back daily asking when his next appointment was, and things of this nature. They are also complaining about petty things. He finally has a diagnosis, but we are waiting for the psychiatrist. Not only am I getting calls, but they are calling the clinic. Yes I signed a release, but that was necessary for the therapist to see him at school. I cannot get them off my back, and they are even annoying the clinic. I feel that they are pushing me and treating me like a bad mother just because my son has issues, and the process is so long. I am open to any advice, or reading similar experiences.

I should add that my other children are on the honor roll, and the child in questions IQ during the testing process rated very high for his age. Yet the principal has made several negative comments about my parenting when it comes to school, and other things. My children are all clean and properly dressed (my two oldest are very well kept up they are anal about their looks) yet she has said things about this. Yet the therapist who sees my son even agrees that she is very much in the wrong, and feels that I have reason to be upset with her comments.
