My son recently asked me what it means when he has an erection...although in different words of course. He's five years old and I really have no idea what to tell him. We discussed babies somewhat...I told him the daddy's job is to give the mommy a "special ingredient" to make the baby grow. Why you ask...well he thought it was pretty sad that mommy's get to carry babies and daddy's "do nothing". But other than that I didn't go into any detail about what or where or anything about the ingredient and I think he's too young to know. So what do I tell him?

I am not ready either, maybe I will explain the blood flow thing? With an 11 year old I would just say it is natural and ok, I will start knocking before i come in your room so you have privacy. Just make sure he knows is ok and natural, then go to your room and look shocked and embarrassed so he doesnt see you, lol.

Okay, I don't know why the reply button will not work, but this is in response to Janeen, in the event that someone else replies..lol. We've talked about that part of it, he knows he has to do that in the bedroom or bathroom-door closed, privately. To be honest and perhaps gross...I think he was pooping when asked me. I didn't give him an answer and he didn't pry, but I want to be prepared just in case.

Maybe thats the way his penis lets him know he has to pee, or that it is being touched? I told my son when he learned that it is ok for him to touch it all he wants but he has to do it in his room with the door closed, lol. He never asked why, but he did tell me he can make it bigger.
