Wow...mine is 4 and is doing this constantly!!! She just had a meltdown in Wal-mart today because i wouldnt give her M&M's because she wasnt listening. My 6yr old knew better than to even ask, and he was good!! I have no idea, and we talk about it constantly. I just need this to pass quickly!!

I have the same problem with my 7 year old. Everything is such a huge deal. My mom told me all little girls go through it when they are trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be. I hope it passes soon!

I don't know why they do this. Mine is being dramatic now too. Maybe it's the age. On the selfish thing, I had a chat with my daughter recently when she would try to manipulate me having to stay home 24/7. I finally asked her why, and she said because she wanted to be with me all the time. I said, ok, then you can't go see your friends either, you have to be with me all the time. No play dates, no church classes, no extra activities after school, etc. When she said that wasn't fair, I told her that was what she was doing to me. She was telling me that I couldn't go to see my friends ever. She got the point. Mostly now she lets me go without trying to drag me into the house...Good luck and God bless!
