Guys (especially teenage ones) view a tongue piercing as a turn on because it supposedly heightens the sensation for them during fellatio. For that reason alone I would not want my daughter to have her tongue pierced. You wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea about her. It's hard enough for girls to be seen by boys as more than penis receptacles as it is. Don't give them more ammunition. That's my 2 cents' worth.

honestly I would say no. She can wait till she is 18 and if she still wants it then, then go for it. My daughter wanted her belly done @ 15, i said no she had to wait till she was older and now at 17 she thanked me for it! Thats was just my experiance.

Wow.... you aged 2 years in 6 days (at least according to your FIRST post).... Impressive.

Either way....

I will allow my daughters to get their ears pierced when they want to. If my son wants an ear pierced we would allow it too but that is it until they are 18 or out of our house. It makes me sick to try to order food from someone who can't even talk with all kinds of piercings on their mouth and tongue. Its gross!

Considering that she bumped up a post that's over a year old just to tell all us mother's that we're wrong in how we're raising our kids....

your right teresa, jaja is only 16? i just want to know why she is here? maybe their is a teen mom group?? idk i doubt she is a mom at all

[deleted account]

My 9 year olds don't have any piercings at all. When they are older and start to show some more maturity and responsibility.... I'll let them get their ears pierced. Anything else will have to wait until they are 18.

I'm really surprised that Jaja has a school aged child considering that she's only 16...... ??

i agree with tracie. I also think young men see it as a sexual turn on. They will try to get her to do oral and assume that is why she got it. just my thoughts. as for pros i cant think of any good reason for it, if she need to express her self let her change her hair.

I can tell you if she has her tongue pierced she will most probably develop a lisp in her speech and the enamel on the back of her front teeth will be permanently damaged. As for pros I can't think of any!

i was 11 years old when i got my lip and toung pierced.thenn when i turned 12 i got my snake eyes and snake bites done ,but when i was 8 years old i got my helix.then when i turned 13 yearsold i got my sideburn pierced . now im 16 and i took most of them out. so you should let her get her toung pierced but make sure she keeps it clean.and maybe she might take it out in later in life . but for now let teens make mistakes.

My family said NO.NO.NO. So I just waited until I was 18 and did it anyway. 14 years later I still have it. I kept ice chips around for the swelling and I too learned to switch to plastic balls soon after. You can buy any design under the sun on ebay (even flesh colored, flat retainers that look like you tounge) just clean it in listerine first. Most people who choose to have a piercing are going to do it in your house or wait, but still get it done. At least if you help your child make good choices and research you can be more confident about the choices (like where) you have made. After more than a decade the only problem I have had is one time a few years ago I got the stomach flu, be careful when you vomit, it would be best to take it out if you sick.
Make sure you buy listerine and rince it after eating for the first few weeks. Ice chips help for the first few days. It will swell. As a RN I hear horror stories but for the number of people who have it done everyday it is only a small percent who have a problem.
Good Luck

The cons is definitely that it causes damage to your teeth, especially if you keep the metal tonguestud in, I broke two of my teeth before I realised plastic is definitely the way to go!! (I guess I'm a slow learner) I live in South Africa and around here it is definitely not so common for kids to have all these piercings at 16, I won't say no if my daughter asks, but I will ask her to wait till she is 18 or even 20. Saying no outright will just make kids do it behind your back!

i am sorry, but i am against piercings until they are out of my house and can pay for it on their own. i have 4 kids and 2 tried to get me to go along...no dice!!! my reasoning is, it may be their body BUT as of right now, i have to pay for the procedures AND medical bills should anything go wrong, and yes, i do know of one teenager who had it done behind her mother's back and it got super infected and lost all her taste buds not to mention a deformed tongue now. i also try to warn them that in this day and age and with the economy, not many folks will hire someone with all those piercings which will limit their job choices in the long run. just my 2 cents worth.

I got my tongue pierced a few years back. The parlor I went to actually numbs your mouth before the piercing. If you decide to let her get this done, you may want to check with different parlors if you are afraid of her panicking. Also, there is a possibility of her getting it done on her own even if you say no since she already has multiple piercings.

With playing with it on your teeth as soon as it heals you can get plastic barbells. My husband hates it when I click it against my teeth. The barbell when you first get it is huge, to allow room for the swelling. I use to have my nose pierced and I would have to say in my opinion, and this is just how I felt, that the nose was worse then my tongue. And that's even getting it done a second time and having to go through scar tissue.

ive had my tounge done two times, my nose, ears, labret and nipple all pierced. the woman that said about her going somewhere unsafe to get it done is really right.. as for the cons, well, i can tell you, it can ruin your teeth because when you bite or "play with" the tounge stud it grinds your teeth down.... that being said, im 31 years old, and id get it done again in a heartbeat. lol

I was 16 when I got mine the first time... I hid it from my parents for a long time. I had it done professionally but your daughter might try and do it herself or have a friend do it. There is a main nerve that runs through your tongue and if she hits it her face could go numb permanently. Do you have a no piercing thing or is it just the tongue that bothers you?
