I love to scrap but my biggest problem is creativity and trying to place where and how and get ideas

Hi Laura,

I definately agree with the lady before stating "Not all scrap magazines are created equal."  Seems like a lot of adds for little examples in some of them.  I have found a couple of great books that I love & I've pretty much now bought the whole line of by Memory Makers.  I prefer the simple pages & I think these all have really great layouts. "All Girl Scrapbook Pages", "All Boy Scrapbook Pages", "School Days Scrapbook Pages", "All Kids Scrapbook Pages", Quick & Easy Scrapbook Pages".  These are the ones that all my girlfriends borrow from me & most have now bought their own copies since we all use them so much.  The other thing that we love is the quote book "Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Word Quote".

Good luck.

One thing that has helped me is to keep a creative journal. I find pictures of layouts or design ideas in magazines and cut them out and paste them in a notebook. I write down ideas on how I would like to use this layout or design so that when I am stuck I flip open my journal to gain inspiration. Sometimes I will take pictures of layouts or designs that I see at retreats or when cropping with friends and print them on paper and add to my journal. I hope this helps.Good luck.

I forgot to mention: when you are browsing through the magazines, notice the amount of pages dedicated to advertising. That's not inspiring to me. You can go online and find all the same products with one simple search when it's time to purchase current supplies.

My friends and I buy and pass around the trade magazines. Not all scrap magazines are created equal. You could look through them at your local craft store to decide which one you like. It is cheaper and faster to get a subscription. Just make sure your friends are subscribing to different ones than you, so you can swap 'em. Also, the public libraries carry the hard back hobby books which are nice, colorful, glossy pages to browse through (3 week check out at my library).
