Hey all! I am in the market for a cricut and just wondering if any of you have an opinion...

From what I have gathered there are 3 models... Personal, Expressions and Create.. wondering which model to go with, what are the differences other than size- especially between the Create and Personal and if any of you have complaints or praises about the product. I used one this weekend and fell in love! But- that might just be a honeymoon thing! Thanks in advance- Jenn

Amy- too funny! I totally told him I would put it back in the box just the way I found it and unwrap it- Heck the kids wouldn't even know if it was in the box or not!

The Expression is definitely the best. I think of it as an investment too since the kids can use it for school projects too. Walmart has the best price retail ($297). I work at a scrapbook store and that is even cheaper than our wholesale price!

I am getting one! Woo-hoo!! Thank you all for all of your input. Michael's had the create on sale tonight from 6-9 for $149. My husband went and was the first in line--- didn't want to pass that deal up- that is half price from their normal retail! I am trying to talk him into letting me use it for my next crop night! Thanks again ladies for all of your feedback!

I'd also suggest Ebay. You can find great deals on carts, mats, blades, and machines...just watch out for crazy shipping costs!

Jennifer it is not a honeymoon thing....you are going to love it. I own both the Cricut Create and the Expressions Machine. I love them both!!! I cut vinyl with my Cricut Expressions and I make some large Disney Characters for my daughters...However, my Cricut Create is the machind I'd advise you to get. The only down fall is the size issue, but if your using it for scrapbooking than it's the best machine out there. It takes the 6x12 mats that you can find at almost any craft store, where as the 12x24 mats are not as easy to find and are quite pricey. Paper is also an issue...the 12x24 paper is $$$$ eater....In either case, which ever you get...you'll love it....shoot me some of your finished projects when you get swarming! Good Luck!

I got my cricut for my birthday (my hubby is so good to me) It fits inside my creative memories bag (I have the 12x6 one) It is a wonderful addition to my scrapbooking and last year walmart had it for $88 the day after Thanksgiving!

The hallmarkscrapbook.com now has the cricut with 4 cartridges, the colored pens, and extra mats plus free shipping for $329 I believe. There are some scrapbook stores that will rent you cartridges too for fairly cheap if you have a project you want to do but don't want to buy the cartridge it is a good way to go.

Just got the expression and i'm loving it! Found an amazing deal on HSN with a 5 month flex pay. I've never had it before so i'm still learning. It's a great tool so far and have bought a few cartridges on sale.....watch for the sales! JoAnn's is having a sale this weekend for $37.99. I got some for $29.99 online at Custom Crops. Any ways, that my 2 cents! :) Echo

My mother in law has the personal, and I have the expressions - the expressions is way better! It give you a few added features which are fantastic (including a wider range of sizes to cut in) and you're able to cut more at once. And yes, the cartiridges are one size fits all, so if you have friends with different sized machines you can all share!

I absolutely love my Cricut. I have the personal one and use it for almost every page to do titles. When we scrapbook, another girl who has one brings it and we all swap cartridges, and we never buy the same one! I would highly recommend it, in fact, I don't buy alphabet letters anymore since i have mine, so I don't have tons of random letters at all!

I have the Expressions and love it more than the Personal....I had the little Bug and loved it, so easy to use, but with Expressions you can do so much more with it....

I use mine quite a bit, but realize that there are times that I should have used it rather than some other the elements.

Thank you guys sooo much! This has become an obsession with me- finding the cheapest cricut! I just noticed on Michael's website they have excluded it from their coupons- of course! Oh well- maybe I will go check out ebay again. Thanks again for your input!

Create and Personal (aka original) are VERY different. The Create has the same features as the Expression, but with the smaller size. Thus, the Create and Expression are virtually the same machine, with only the size being the difference. I have the Expression also, and I love it. BUT, keep in mind, if you go over to friend's houses to crop, etc, or go on retreats, go to crops at scrapshops, the big one is a pain to lug around. The smaller one is GREAT for that. Depends on where you'd be using it.

As for cheaper options, check out ebay - there are quite a few Provo Craft-licenced retailers selling Cricuts, cartridges and accessories on there, usually for cheaper than what you find at Michael's. That said, I've found Walmart usually has good prices for Cricut stuff.

Good luck... and believe me, it's worth it, I LOVE my expression! :D

I think so ..... I just saw an informercial for the Expression one and just noticed you can put the 12x12 paper in it and the screen I think is bigger. It must have a few more options though....I haven't had time to check it out fully!

Is that the only difference with the bigger one- that it makes bigger letters and "things"?

I am checking them out online now!

I have the personal cricut (am actually using it tonight to cut out a project for PTA). Anyway, I love it but I so want to get the Expression one now! I would love to be able to do bigger and better things. I think you can use all the same cartridges for all of them. So yeah....definitely go for the bigger one!!!

That is the bigger machine- right?? It is such a neat machine- with soooo many possibilities... I am trying to find it "cheaper" than what I have seen-- don't know if that is possible! Thanks for your input! (We don't have a Hobby Lobby- but that is a great sale- have fun shopping!)

I have the Expressions and love it. So easy to use and wonderful! Also, Hobby Lobby (if you have that store) is having a sale on the cartridges on Monday 11/24 for only $39.99 (they are normally anywhere from $60 to $90).
