Does anyone use the Cricut Design Studio? I just downloaded the free trial to see if it is something I would like to invest in. Especially interested in "welding" my letters together using it, if that actually works! Please let me know if it works..thanks!!

I have design studio and SCAL and I really like them both...I rarely do any scrapbook page or card/project without my computer now! I love the welding option! I also love to be able to see exactly what I'm gonna cut out on my computer screen first...these programs also allow you to place different colors on your mat because you can see exactly where it's gonna start cutting each piece! I think both programs are well worth the money!

Yup....as long as you don't tell Provo Craft you use SCAL, they'll never know :)

I'm gonna get it pretty soon I think, I hear nothing but good things about it.

I am not sure about the design studio, but I bought Sure Cuts A Lot and love it...it's the same kind of program only instead of buying cartridges to use, you use the fonts already on your computer...it will wield the letters, shadow, and bold.

It is much more useful than just the design studio...I realize that ProvoCraft has threatened that using SureCutsALot would void your warranty but in reality there is no way for PC to even know if you had SCAL installed on your computer as SCAL doesn't install anything to the Cricut. It is simply a silly scare tactic to keep extracting all the dollars they can get from your pocket as once you have SCAL there is little need to buy any more font cartridges.

Yes, jukebox is awesome, and a must have if you are using the design studio! For instance, if you are using the ds and you use shapes from 3 different carts, when you go to cut, you are going to hve to keep changing out the carts in the machine during the cutting process....but if you have them in your jukebox, all you do is hook it up the the cricut and you don't have to worry about it.

ohmycrafts.com recently was selling the ds and jukebox together for 65 bucks. Considering WalMart sells the ds for 65 by itself, that is an AWESOME deal. :)

I have Design Studio and can't imagine using my cricut without it.
With the free trial you are able to cut with the cartridge that came with your machine. If you have the expression, you can cut shapes/letters from Plantin Schoolbook. With the original cricut, the George & Basic Shapes, and with the Cricut Create, the Don Juan cartridge.

"Welding" the letters does work, it just takes a little time as the machine & software naturally put spaces between the letters & shapes. Since I purchased Design Studio, I haven't used my cricut without it. You can also move your shapes around to fit more on a page saving paper which I love.

I hear it's pretty good, but I haven't gone out and gotten one yet!!! I'd love to hear more about it as well!
