I have Design Studio and Sure Cuts A Lot... do not waste your money on Design Studio... but Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) is SOOOO WORTH THE MONEY. You can do over a 1000 fonts (and not buy any of them) designs, and die cuts. It is the most amazing software out there. SCAL does everything that design studio can do (welding, flipping, sizing) and SO MUCH MORE!

I was looking into getting the Studio also but was told that I would have still have to use the cartridges and could not just use what is on my computer only. I did go online and downloaded a trial use of Sure Cuts Alot and will be buying it in the future instead of the Studio.

I have the Design Studio and I love the way I can see all the layers in one place for the carts and I don't have to figure out which button to push. I purchased mine from ohmycrafts.com and the cost for the jukebox and the studio for only $79 for both. I have just learning how to use it and I do love it.

Thanks for posting all this info. I was just looking at the design studio myself and was wondering what it does and if you actually have to own the cartridges to print them and if you could use the fonts already in your computer. You all are great!

I have the Design Studio and like it. I don't use it a lot, because it's a pain hooking the computer up to the cricut all the time. What I like about it is that you can cut any size you want with the original Cricut, so you can go smaller than an inch. You still need to use the cartridges you already have.

Hello! I have the design studio and I'm not impressed with it. It might just be me though. I expected that it was going to be very useful and easy to use, just as the cricut is, and it's not. If you are looking to get cartridges keep you eye on www.customcrops.com . They have $29 sales on the older cartridges. GL! M

I love my Cricut Design Studio...I found it a bit intimidating the first time I tried it, but since I have become a pro using it with my cartridges. There is a system out now called Sir Cuts-A-Lot??? I believe it works with your Cricut carts and all of the fonts that are downloaded into your computer. I hear it is pretty awesome. It is not a Cricut brand product though.
