Finding time and place to scrap

I don't have a place to store my supplies in my home. My children are away at college but still, technically, live here. We have a modest, 3-bedroom home, with limited closet space. I can't seem to find a spot to store my stuff where it is easily accessible when I do manage to find time to scrap. I'd love to find out how others with limited space store their supplies, where they scrap, and when they find the time to scrap. I work full-time, so I have to figure out how to "make" time and complete some projects that are just sitting around.

Suggestions welcome and encouraged! Also, let me know if you post your storage solutions. I need to find some way to pull it all together instead of spread out around the house.

I scrapbook in our dining room but I also keep a laundry basket with all my supplies in it. The trick for me is that I have to be super organized so that when I can scrapbook I can easily grab what I'm doing at the moment and go from there--not searching for different pieces here and there.

I currently have an area that is dedicated to my scrapbooking. However, not so long ago I had a corner of my daughter's playroom to use for my scrapbooking supplies and my computer workstation. I bought an inexpensive armoire and fit it for my supplies. I moved the shelves in the top portion of it to accommodate the spaces needed for my supplies. I took the shelf out of the bottom portion and was able to fit 2 rolling carts that held more supplies. When I wanted to work on projects I opened the doors and worked. I will admit that now that I have a space dedicated to my hobby I find myself working on projects more often. I leave what I'm working on out and work on it when I have time. I also have scheduled a once a month out of the house crop. This is put on our family calendar and is treated just like any other commitment. I tend to get more done at home on my ongoing albums but I do get a lot of gift projects and theme albums done at these once a month crops. You really have to commit to making time for your hobby because it is a stress reliever for every scrapbooker.

That's exactly why I got into digital scrapbooking. With two young kids, a dog, and limited space, I just couldn't keep all the suplies to paper scrap. With digital scrapbooking I only need my computer and can work on my projects in short intervals of time. There are pleanty of sites out there to get started but a good one is http://www.frommemoriestobooks.com

I had this problem for a long time.  I could never leave my projects out as I had two small children with very inquisitive minds.  As they got older, I took over a corner in the lounge room no bigger than 1.8 x 1.5 m.  I was happy with baskets holding different bits and pieces on corner shelving and other boxes albums etc stored under the desk.  My challenge was to never let all my supplies spread out past these measurements.  My mum and daughter could sit at the desk with me - one on the opp side and one on the end.  We have moved house now and I have my own room.  It's the best thing - to have my own space to be creative and have a home office zone too.  Just pick a spot and put a desk there and see how it goes!  Too much time is wasted re-setting up to be creative.  If it's already at your finger tips, then finding time to scrap will be easier.  I sometimes just do 10 - 15 mins, half an hour, whatever I can.  Otherwise I would do absolutely nothing.

Hope this helps.  Smiles  Suzi

I think everyone has this problem.  I am a working mom of 2 boys still at home.  At one time I had it all set up in my garage and it was off limits to everyone.  I have since moved one son to the bonus room, since they had outgrown a playroom and now turned one bedroom into my scrapbook room/at home office.  I also host events for scrapbookers, it is a fun group if you would be interested in any of our gatherings.
