I always use matte. Many people earlier mentioned about the finger print issue (@ a camera store you can get a special soft cloth to get them off) I find that when you are displaying or having others look at your work the viewer usually has to move your work side to side to avoid the glare from the glossy print. Personally when I am looking at someones masterpiece it is very distracting having to find the non-glare area of the photo. I know that with all the pretty papers and embellishments we as artists need to remember that the most important item in the page is the photos. Don't forget the reason that we do these projects, our photos!

i use matte pictures as i find they look better in photo albums & they are easyer to seein bright light as glossy one glare at you in bright light.

It all depends on your personal preference. For me, it all depends on what the project is and what I want for the overall effect. I tend to like matte because then you aren't seeing your own reflection in the pictures when you're looking at the book!

matte finish holds up to finger prints better. for that reason i print matte. plus, once they are behind the glossy page protector, i think the glossy pics cause an extra glare that the matte's don't. just my humble opinion

i prefer matte, i took 2 photography classes in college too and that's what got me hooked on matte, they required we use matte paper for our photos, maybe because it's how much we handle them, once i bought glossy accidently and used it and i realized why, it didn't look as nice! My photos i tried entering in the art show too, only the matte ones got entered. I have always preferred matte since i took those photo courses in college!

I used to like matte, but lately I've been scanning in old photos from the 70s and 80s, and I find the matte ones don't scan as sharply. (The matte texture makes the photo look less sharp in the scan.) Now I go with glossy--but I make sure I have page protectors over finished scrapbook pages to keep fingerprints away.

I think that it is a personal preference. I prefer matte over glossy just because some of the glare is reduced with the matte pictures.

A question that has plagued scrapbookers for centuries :) I use matte but also find myself sitting in front of the machine at the walmart and having a hard time deciding. Although i will say that some pictures like to be glossy llike if they are water pics.

Glossy. But you can buy clothes to wipe the prints off after you adhere them to your page. But it is a matter of taste.

I prefer matte. They look more professional and you can see all the detail. Glossy hides a lot of detail and the color seems diluted by the shine. I also love black and white. My personal favorite is black and white matte. The details are amazing and I get so many compliments on my photos. I took one of my turtle and people actually asked me where I had his pictures taken...Really??? It is a good shot, but professional pics of pets is a little odd, don;t you think?? lol. ANyway, I prefer matte.

I like matte because you don't see the fingerprints. If you like the gloss you could make sure your page protectors are glossy.

I never realized why, but many of my friends who scrapbook HATE glossy with a passion and it's because of how hard they are to hand without getting finger prints on them. So they are use Matte.

I prefer matte but that is just me. Our shots look more professional so I think a matte finish finishes it off well.

I think it is a matter of personal preference. I like glossy better, but it is really up to you.
