Hey my name is Nikki and I am completely new at scrapbooking. As a matter of fact I haven't even started. The only two pages I have completed is ones that someone helped me do. I have a four year old and tons of pictures and have no idea on how to begin, Any ideas on how to start would be awesome!

I always get me inspiration at the store (sounds dangerous, doesn't it?) But there is just nothing like looking at all that paper, and ribbons, etc!!

The I keep all my supplies in a box in our TV room, so that I can just get it out while we're watching TV!

I started scrapbooking 10 years ago, I had a ton of pictures and had no idea what to do with them I went to a Creative Memories crop and the rest is history or rather in scrapbooks! Check out www.creativememories.com. You should be able to locate a consultant in your area that would be happy to get you started!

After I stayed home with my sons, I took on scrapbooking and developed a true passion for it. It took me a year to scrapbook all the pictures I had of my family, my childhood, trips, and my boys. With every album, sometimes with every page, I tried out a new technique.First, I'd like to give you tips on where you can buy the least expensive , but quality scrapbooking stuff. I bought lots of scrapbooking idea books on Amazon, some cost as low as 1 cent ( unbelievable) whereas the store price was $ 24.95 ! I raided all the scrapbooking stores in the area and I ended up with a huge arsenal of patterned paper, stamps, punches, etc. I am very much a bargain shopper and I discovered that dollar stores have nice stickers for cheap, also Big Lots has a scrapbooking isle and you can find nearly all supplies for low prices ( between $ 1 and $ 10) , Jo Anne's Arts and Crafts has plenty online discounts and very frequent clearances on paper ( a $ 20 collection of patterned papers go for half the price). My best kept secret is LakesideCollection.com. I bought my best quality bargains there. Just enter their website and type in Scrapbooking on the search box and it'll show you all catalogs.

My best source of ideas is Scrapbooks,Etc, in my opinion the best scrapbooking magazine out there. Kinda pricey, $ 7 but I think but well worth it. You have to find your style but the most fun is experimenting with techniques. Being organized helps too and there are books out there ( Michelle Gerbrandt's , founder of Memory Makers scrapbook magazine comes to mind) teaching you how to organize your workspace, your pictures and your pages. I have plenty of ideas and suggestions, feel free to email me at taekwondo2000us@yahoo.com and I'd love to see your creations and share mine with you.

Yes, organize the pictures and then start on current pictures. Stay current and slowly work backwards. My favorite album is the D-ring. It has the most flexiblity (as far as changing the order of layouts), is sturdy and cost effective. There's lots of great products at Wal-Mart, Target, local scrapbook stores, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc. Try to buy on sale and with coupons. My biggest word of wisdom is to do what YOU like. There are all different styles..don't feel pressure to be perfect. Have fun. Check out Scraplove.com for a fun site to chat, ask questions and get good ideas.

Just a suggestion, but I would organize all your pictures first. Then you can decide if you want to do an album random pictures or themed. I have 2 kids and what I did: The first album has pictures of me preggo, ultrasounds all the way to the first birthday. Second book is from age 1 to 2nd bday and so on... that way when they get married, move out I can give them all the scrapbooks of them growing up. My sister in law just started scrapbooking and she took all the pics from birth to age 5 and made one book.

There are plenty of kits that are sold that have plenty of stuff for putting together a scrapbook- minus however the most important things- a corner trimmer, a picture cropper, and the cutting set. Unless you want all the pictures to be square- whihc is fine- you may want to look into buying a cutting kit that has stencil trimmers and a cutter so you can crop your pictures to what you want. I started scrapbooking just after my son was born, and I have so much fun! There are people who hold classes who have all the equipment like Sizzix and Cricuts to do really fancy work, and you can buy stickers from them cheap. One of those classes might really give you a hand . . .
