i did one for my daughter where the only thing in common was that she had a hair clip in each one and she doesn't wear them too often because she's 9 months so that was my common idea was something done with hair! Or maybe common color of clothes too, that way you can use that to match your paper, borders and stuff you use too. That way you can see how different each photo can be with similar color of clothing too. Or sleepy time, cuddle time, family time, water time whether it's bath or summer water.

I take those random pictures and cut out the person and put it on a page dedicated to that person. The whole book is collage style and if I do not have enough of one person to do a whole page I put them on friends page or church page. This is a good way to get them in an album and us random school pictures that you receive of nephews or friends children. I just can't throw any pictures away.

My idea is to pick an age for example I made one of my daughter named Itha @ 20 months and I wrote down everything she liked at the moment. You can also use songs, if they are big enough make interviews, silly questions etc. Take Care!!

I sometimes do a 2 page layout on various pictures from the month. My title is usually the name of the month, and you can do one for each child/family member or one layout that includes everyone (or both if you have tons of pics)

I do a scrapbok for each year for my son (working on number three- he's two). Sometimes photos just don't go together but are so super cute you have to use them!
Some Ideas that may help you:
*Look at Me!
*Happy Days
*Time Flies When You're Having Fun
*Amour! (love)
*If Your're Happy and you know it!
*Timeless Treasures
*Cutie Patootie
*Playtime
*Through the eyes of a child
*My world

Do you do personality pages? Select a photo that really brings out one child's personality, and journal it. If you have a bunch, do a "Many faces of ___" page.

Depending on your childrens' ages, you can do an alphabet book, or an I Spy kind of page with several photos and a poem listing what to look for on the page. Such a great question & lots of interesting suggestions!

I love doing one photo per page sometimes because you can tell more of the story about that picture and make it extra special

You could make a collage of the pics. Cut them into different shapes-hearts, squares, or any size and shape and put on a page.

You could do a scrapbook called "Random Memories." You can include pictures that really didn't fit with other themes.

As far as single picture pages, I don't usually do those unless it is paired with another page with multiple photos or is a very special photo.

As to ways to put multiple unrelated photos on a page: Scenes of Summer (or other season); My Good Days; My Bad Days; Having Fun; Days with Mommy (or other relative, friend); Ms/Mr Photogenic; I Love My Toys (dolls, trains . . . ); Funny Faces (or other emotion); Mom Got Out the Camera, Again; Aren't I Beautiful/Handsome; Somebody Loves Me; At the Park/Zoo/Museum; etc.

You could always make a pocket page, where you take one big photo and embelish the page normally, but then add a pocket to hold other photos they can take out and look at. Kinda like those interactive pages. Then you have lots of pics but no real theme to them.

Instead of themes age groups. I have a layout that show all my children at age 2. I only had one pic of each of the four at that age. Or just a general winter time, summer time and put all together. Your favorite toy, shirt or activity might group them. Playtime together is a very general theme. kids with friends, dad, or cousins. Maybe pics of them wearing the same shirt that was handed down. Or all of them in the same color shirt. Pics with pets, on the patio or porch, in the back yard. Just any general background could unite misc pics so there would be more than one pic on the page.

There is always a way to connect them. I have a bunch of carrie in this outfit I love... but there was no real theme and she was doing random stuff in each one... it's my "day in the life of a toddler" page. or a "carrie (fill in your childs name here) on the go" page. I also took a bunch of playing pics and did a favorite toys page

each strip is a different toy, except yellow where all three of those pics are different toys... you can find a theme in anything...

This one I did with pics from the park. We went there all the time and these are all doing different things in different days and outfits

Try

A day in the life

summer (winter, fall or spring) fun

outside adventures (or at school or any pics with a common setting)

growing up so fast

What I love about you

favorite things (you don't just have to group toys there, you can do it like a survey... at age 3 carrie liked to dance, eat spaghetti, and slide and include a pic of all 3 activities)

The many faces of...

All girl (or all boy, use dressed up pics for girls or playing with girl things, like barbies and tea parties or dirt pics for boys wrestling or playing sports.)

Carrie at age 3 (pick a time frame and go with it)

I had the same problem. I did a Daddy page & a Mommy page. I got pictures of my daughter with her daddy & pictures of my daughter with me & made seperate pages for those. I also got pictures from when she was 3-6months, added a nice quote & that was a page! :) I did it again with 6-9months. Hope that helps a little!

I have my 12 x 12 to do my big ones eg a grandchild's birth/bithday and for the random ones I have a 6 x 6 and just the one photo and what it means to me like a photo of my eldest when he was 18 months I told him it was time to get dressed and his serious reply was "no, got clothes on"

I am a Wizard of Oz collector and I wanted to do a book with all Wizard of Oz pages, stickers, etc. I decided I was going to just put random pics in there since it's hard to do events, etc for Wizard of Oz.....do you have anything you collect or enjoy that you could incorporate into a scrapbook?

I had that problem too. I do a 3-6month page. I'd get a few pictures of my daughter when she was 3-6months old, incorperate a quotw (when you look at her, love is all that matters) I'd try to get pictures that all had similar colors so I could use that color as the background. Hope this helped!

Try sketches. There are a bunch of them out there with multi-pictures. Group them in some kind of theme and then use a sketch. Pull papers and embellishments to coordinate.
I like to create simple one photo layouts from time to time especially if its a cute photo or something that doesn't go with anything else. Sometimes I only got one good photo but I'd hate not to scrap it.

I have even done "pretty in pink" "my baby blue" when the only thing the pics had in common was the color of the shirt-dress etc. Any title that can tie the pics together will work. " Your a piece of the Family Puzzle" "I love blue eyes" "When you smile (cry, laugh, giggle, pout} .... I use the site A Perfect Title and just let a title lead me into a layout idea.
And if you only have one picture maybe a couple 8x8 albums would not feel so wasteful. Good Luck!!

I've done pages - "Faces of ..." or " Year in Review" "Moments of Time"

You could do them by seasons, or months, or even chronologically throughout a year. You could do it by moods, ie smiling, not smiling, good days, bad days. This might end up being easier than doing themed pages.

Do you get any scrapbook mags? It seems like at least half of their layouts are one-photo-only. Maybe open a mag, choose one you like and copy it :)

i dont have enough to categorize them. I hate doing one pic per page. seems wasteful.

Collect all that have something in common. Jumping, muddy, sleeping, eating, etc.....
