Scrap Booking How do I get started?

I started scrapbooking 7 years ago by going to a CM party and was hooked, too. The most liberating part to me was *not* having to use every picture if it was blurry or if I didn't like it. I tried to start a chronilogical album with my son but have also done subject specific ones with newspaper articles or vacations, etc. and I adore my Christmas album. Just get your photos together and jump in. Once you get started, you'll learn what you like and develop your own style.

Contact me and I can give you more info. I can also send you an idea book if you are interested. I don't just use CTMH products. I also go to local scrapbook stores and I have alot of products from other companies.

Once you've done a kit or two and know what you like and want, buy the "brand name" scrapbook supplies off Ebay. Once you have purchased ask the seller to add you to thier email list and this can save you big $$. I agree with Sara, the cheaper materials tend to not work as well and can look a bit tacky and also, Creative Memories tools are worth the extra money. My CM star punch became stuck after about 2 years of good use and it was replaced no questions asked, that is quality service!

I agree with the ladies... Scrap Booking kits are the way to go!

They have kits for everything.

Alittle advise... buy your supplies when they are on sale. or even off season!!

I remember being invited to a "scrapbook party" 9 years ago. I went just to be a good friend to the hostess, figuring I'd buy a little something. Well, I was hooked and bought the full kit that night. Now I'm a consultant and I get to see all the new stuff before it even comes out. I also get my discount on anything I buy. Of course I'm a huge advocate for Creative Memories - I know our products (and have tried others in the years between starting and selling) and I know we have the best stuff around, with a team of scientists to test and prove it.

Check out the website. Then think about hosting a show - you can earn a lot of stuff free. We also offer different beginner kits to fit what your needs are.

We also have various types of books - some are fully traditional scrapbooking, some come with kits to create all the pages, some are slide in ones that you enhance, or we do digital too!

I know when I started I went nuts buying all sorts of stickers etc, and then found that the inexpensive stuff really was "cheap" and I'd rather pay a bit more for quality. Especially your tools like cutters or shape makers (CM really has the best tools to cut circles or ovals - by FAR the Best!)

I agree. Buy a kit and organize by events (baptism, bathtime, holidays, or random fun things). Pages don't have to be elaborate to look good - sometimes less is more.

Well i myself just started one and i bought the scrapbooking kit. Then i knew kinda how i wanted to start the scrapbook so for instance i made pages for his baby shower and bought several stickers that had to do with baby showers. I just threw stuff together and i'm shocked at how well i have done for being my first one. Maybe a few ideas I absolutely love using fabric paint for my scrapbooking pages it just makes them look so much better and i use photo splits to tape my photo's on the pages and of course the designed scissors!!! I doubt this even comes close to helping you but good luck!!
