Hey everyone I am trying to put a small space together as a scrap room! I am really excited about it and have some fun stuff to put into it but I am not really sure about how exactly to put it together. I want it to be a well organized space for myself and friends to scrap but it also has to look good too! What are some of your PRIORITIES that you would put into the room? I know a space for friends is a top one of mine but then I am sort of drawing a blank. Any help?

Just had to delete a response that didn't work. If you go to "Photos" up top you can select "New Photo" and upload a photo there. Then you can use your mouse to "right click" on the picture, then select "copy image address" and then select "Paste" in the reply box here in the thread:

I think they are working on easier ways to share links but this will work for now.

Hey all if you scroll back to the top there is a link that just says photos. I think we can upload some picts of some rooms there. I don't think there is really any way to link them to this conversation thread though. But at least we could all see them there?:) Just a suggestion cause I would really like to see some picts too to "borrow" some ideas.

Pictures of your "scrap space" would be great.  I have a 10x12 room that used to be my daughters and I have some shelves in there but I need some inspiration as well.  I have a cricut that I got for Christmas LAST year, but I haven't used it.  Mainly because I don't have anything organized.  HELP!!

Is anyone able to post pictures of their "scrap rooms"? I am also trying to figure out what to do and would love to see the spaces!

Another tip, I bought the plastic drawers to keep all of my paper neat and organized. I DON'T however recommend this. Put the $ toward a more sturdy method of storing paper. The weight of the paper collapsed the drawers down on top of each other!

Hi Shaunna, I found a paper rack to keep all of my 12x12 sheets of paper organized is the biggest help of all with keeping everything in place and at my fingertips when I scrap. Good luck with your new space.

Thanks everyone so much for all your help. I am seriously so thankfull for the comments cause I am struggling a bit. I almost have the room like I need it but then the hard part comes in... how to organize it all. Would probably be easier if I didn't have so much junk huh! Anywho... thanks again ladies!

My advice is think of the things you use every time you scrap and keep them together i an specific place. I use alot of the plastic drawer storage containers of all sizes. I also recommend going getting those metal storage cubes and you can connect them together and use them for your scrapbooks and works in progress.

I recently hung a plastic shoe organizer on my wall to hold my paper punches. It is a clear one so you can see what punches are where. I got this idea from someone else and am so glad I finally did it! It freed up a lot of shelf space where they once were and I think it looks cool on the wall. Congrats and good luck!

I would suggest you get some craft cubes from target or Michaels craft store. So you can organize your supplies. Do you have a basement? Set up shop down there with some plastic sturdy tables and chairs!

We have moved twice in 3 years so I have created two scrap rooms just to fit my organizational frenzy. My personal favorites are the things I picked up at IKEA. I have some great little boxes that were super cheap for magazines, pictures, picture cd, ribbon or anything else imaginable. They keep things at my fingertips but yet hidden so my room doesn't look disorganized. I also use some of their kitchen supplies, like their wall mounted rail with shelves, hooks and baskets to keep my pens, scissors, inks and tools off my desktop. They are identical to the rail system you can buy from Lisa Bearnson, but for super cheap. To me a ton of countertop workspace has always been a must.

Good luck and have fun decorating. Let your flair for scrapbooking inspire you!

I'm fortunate now that my girls are older and don't need their playroom any more..it's my SB room. I recommend first off is to get a table and any organizational units. I have a paper rack where I have all my 12x12 paper sorted. Drawers are a must to sort you're tools. I have the essential tools (adhesive, pens, cutters, etc.) right on the table in sorted holders and they stay on the table always. Good luck and congrats on getting that space!!

We are using our dining room as my scrapbooking/craft room. Right now, we have two 5 shelf units in the room. One with my crafts and misc wrapping/gift supplies. The other unit has my personal scrap supplies and my business ones.

We are going to have Lowes Hardware design a room for us with lots of storage and a built in work space. I want a lot in a room the size of about 11' x 11'. But I will do it. Good luck on your project.

PS...I have two 6 foot tables in there right now that fit fine with the rest of my things.

I suggest a folding table to stow away in the closet or corner, so It isn't up all the time, but easily accessible for the get-togethers. Rubbermaid drawers on wheels are nice too, wheel it in and out of the closet, and move around to convenient reach from your table or desk. Plus a desk or table that works for individual scrapbooking, that remains up all the time.

I am not truly a social scrapper so my scrap space was geared toward me, one thing to remember is what inspires you. I am inspired my color, so everything was sorted that way. From my embellishments to my paper. I feel like I am doing a commercial, but there is this book called the "organized and inspired scrapbooker" I think it is through CK Media and I love it, there are all these little quizzes through out to help you get organized and figure out what inspires you. It helped me alot. Hope that helps some :)

Hi Shauna! One thing I would suggest for you room if you are making it where friends can scrap there too, would be have like a "scrap grab." Have everyone put their paper scraps or sticker sheets with leftover stickers that they aren't going to use again, etc into a basket so it is available to everyone. You never know when someone may need that 2 x 2 square piece of purple paper that someone else didn't need! You can use a very cute, decorative basket that goes with your decor.
