I just posted something about getting completed albums on my blog (http://scraphappychristinescorner.blogsp...). It is called the Power Layout Method and I swear it really works and speeds up the process. Don't worry, you are still left with amazing pages. The difference is that they are actually completed pages:)

I find that itf I return to the basics, make smaller scrapbooks, it goes rather quickly.

Hi Annette, God granted you the blessings of those kids, enjoy them! Ask the kids to help you scrapbook. Even little ones can look at pictures and dictate the story that should go in the journaling box. I have found my 10 & 12 year olds open up more to me when we are scrapbooking. God Bless!

My issue seems to be getting started again. I used to scrapbook quite a bit...before we got custody of my brother's three children last October. I now have 5 people to scrapbook for, and far less time to do it. How do I get the motivation (or find the time) to get started again so that I can create some great memories for these amazing kids?

Hi Connie! I hear the same thing from so many busy moms just like yourself! Creative Memories has LOTS of helpful things from quick kits where you simply drop the photos in but still have the ability to build your own page, the Milestones album where you simply drop the pictures in, traditional albums where you can build your pages from scratch & use our idea books to help....or my FAVE for busy moms is our digital software....Storybook Creator Plus....it's awesome in allowing you to do digital pages/books in minimual time by using predesigned pages, building your own or a combination of the two! Most Creative Memories consultants have their own websites where you can visit a help zone for help on these products or get additional ideas as well. Hi Connie - I used to have this exact same problem and then I purchased a digital scrapbooking program and I completed a storybook in just 2 weeks and had it printed and delivered to my home within 7 days - I never had to leave my house or remember to pick it up. You should try digital scrapping, it makes scrapping so much easier. Everything you need at your fingertips. There's even page templates for you to choose from - all you have to do is drag and drop your photos and hit print. Take a peak by opening a FREE account on www.cmphotocenter.com and use CM ID 41367283 ( you'll even get 20 FREE prints just for opening a FREE account. Look for the page templates, upload photos from your computer, drag/drop into template and voila your page is complete. Then you hit order page and your done. I started scrapping last December, and the first thing I did was my wedding album. Got it done a month ago. I have really gotten into cropping, but the best advice my CM consultant gave me was... "The past is gone, keep up with today and work backwards when you have time." Being a mom of 2, and engineering student, IT WORKS!!!! I am doing a 2009 album, and am currently 3 events behind, but that will be cured Sunday after church!!! You could also try CM's Quuick Kits, all you do is add pictures! Whatever you do, enjoy yourself!!! It is supossed to be fun and relaxing! :)

I love using magazines as inspiration...or perhaps join some online communities and browse the galleries...or even participate in a challenge blog or website...lots of these online communities have challenges...that help with prompts and ideas for scrapping my favorite online community is Get It Scrapped...lots of fun ladies and great challenges and tutorials...they even offer online classes

WOW. All that matters in the end is that you have safely preserved your photographs and protected them. Have fun, DON"T be overwhelmed, because you will procrastinate till you don't get it done. Creative Memories does have some wonderful products to get you going. The Power Layout will help get you organized. As I develop my pics, I get paper and embelishments and sort them. When I'm ready, I grab my box and Roll. I sometimes can get 12-15 pages done when I am truly organized.

I am a mother of 3, stepmother of 1, grandmother of 8 and greatgrandmother of 1, I have been "starting to scrapbook" for 2 years. I get sooo overwhelmed that I can't do anything. I went to a scrapbooking group at our church last Monday and I think I might finally get started.They gave me a list of supplies (much smaller than I had ) and told me to pick a simple topic to start. I was trying to start with a family book that would let them know about passed relatives. But, for my first book is going to be vacation pics. Simpler! And they say not to be a perfectionist.

I find that magazines are a great help but if you have a look at some of the scrapbooking shops on the net a few of them have galleries where people put up there photos of finished pages so you can also get ideas from there.

I've been doing it for 12 years and have always been behind with all of my kids. I finally had to set a goal-for instance-get baby up to 1 year--before he turns 2! I did it--but he was a little over 2. Scrapbooking is my therapy. I take a long time on some pages, but others aren't as in depth. This evens out the whole book. You could spend your entire life trying to make the next page equal to or better than the last. I'm all about "just getting it in" until I get as caught up as I'd like to be.

I thing that I have reciently done to get me going is joining a kit club. I pick up a new kit once a month. The kit includes color instructions and all the stuff needed to complete a 2 page spread. It has given me ideas for other pages and it is just fun not to come up with the ideas every now and then.

A friend of mine and I try to get together for a couple hours every week (sanity saver for the new mom :-) to work on our albums. I am still 3 years behind however much better than I was before we started getting together.

I use a how-to book from Close to my Heart, but there are other brands too. It makes it sooo easy, it gives dimensions and what type of paper you need, even how to alter it to make it look a little different. It saves me when I don't want to spend the time to be creative, but also gives me a really great page!

Hi Connie!

I had a thought. Why not try to gather "page" embellishments, papers, etc. and store in large ziplock bags, so when you are able to find some time to scrap, you only need to choose your photos and grab a bag! :c)

I am the same way. I just recently bought a Circut, but haven't had much time to really use it. I do get the Close to My Hearts books for ideas too. They have some really cute ideas. With 3 small kids I have a hard time getting a page done. It takes me long enough to figure out what the heck I'm going to do on it. So you are not alone.

its all about mini-albums! throw together a page in minutes and little hands love to hold them. perfect gift for the mom-in-law (WHOLE other convo, lol). I can make a mini-album with 3 sheets or paper, 6 or so embellishmants, one or two 'special touches' , and left-over picures! hope this helps...

CM really does have some great product and ideas. If you can look at all of their old packaging, it always had ideas on how to use the contents. I don't like that they've changed to plain packaging, but I do love the new product they are coming out with. My Scrapbuddies and I like to schedule "all-weekenders" - we'll go to one house on Friday or Saturday and stay until Sunday. It's great fun and we can bounce ideas off one another.

You are probably more creative than you think. What I did at first was purchase a few scrapbooking magazines and "scrap lifted" some of their layouts! It took all the pressure away and I was able to enjoy myself. Then I started to change one or two things in the layout to make it "my own". Before I knew it, I was off and running. (not with scissors of course...LOL)

I go and check out the scrapbook mags from the library and then I draw little sketches in a book of ideas I'd like to use. They call it "scraplifting." LOL ;) Even message boards on scrap magazine or other scrap sites have all kinds of cute ideas. Or check out the scrapping blogs. I just right click on pages I like and save them to my computer to use as inspiration for a later date.

I have been scrapbooking for years and years and sometimes I don't even walk into my scrapbooking room because it overwhelms me! So Im organizing a little at a time and today I got lots of scrapping done! It was wonderful!!

It takes me forever too, but that's because I am such a perfectionist that it I don't like it the first time, I'll redo it until I'm happy. I really need to get control over that, because I have so many to do!!

I truthfully haven't gotten that far either but just remember to take your time and enjoy it. Thats what it's all about anyway right? I figured that when my kids grow up and move out, I will have an awful lot of time to craft and do those types of things. Heaven forbid I would want to hang out with my husband LOL... I craft just whenever I feel like it so I don't stress about it and I enjoy it no matter how long it takes... Good Luck to you and I hope this helps you a little bit!

Hi Connie,

I know of various products that help with layouts and designs. One is scrapbook mags, the other is Close To My Heart's How-to books. There are 3 books - 2 with 50 - 2 page layouts each, the other has 100 one page layouts. I use them a lot, other wise I would not get as far on any of my books. If you want to see one of the layouts from one of the books let me know.
