My name is Sandy Jackson and I joined the Scrapbooking Mama's today!

I got into scrapbooking a number of years ago and has found it to be very therapeutic for me as well as joyful.

I have found that when I am scrapbooking I don't think about much of anything else. I usally scrap at the end of the evening for an hour or more and go to bed feeling relaxed. As I am going through my photos I take time to reminice, sometimes with great laughter and sometimes with sadness of times gone by.

When I have finished a page or an album I feel a lot of joy and self accomplishment and always look forward to sharing with any and everyone I know!

I am glad I have found a community of others scrapers who i am sure love it as much as me!

Hi Sandy...so glad that I've found another mother who enjoys scrapbooking and it brings great joy to reflect on our children's lives thru this fantastic medium. I too, love the art of scrapbooking. I had a scrapbook club in the community where I live, we were together over five years but other crafts, hobbies and interests took over for many of my members so I disbanded it about two years ago. I also took on a part-time job and could no longer dedicate the time necessary to get these gals together every month. I now have space in my home where I can scrapbook whenever the mood hits me. It is my private haven with pictures, my various scrapping tools and the 26 albums I've been able to complete since retiring from a full-time position with Masco Corporation in 2001. I love scrapbooking and encourage anyone who loves taking photos and has a family to get involved with it. So many memories just sit in boxes over a lifetime...I'd certainly regret never having done anything with my pictures. Have fun...please keep in touch!

Welcome Fay!! First, you need some related photos. You can sort your photos by family member or by year & month. If you want to start a family album, then sort by date (year & month).

Next you need to select a scrapbook. The most popular size is 12 x 12, but smaller books are a great place to start. I use smaller books for vacations and special events.

You will need cardstock paper, decorative papers (if you like them), an adhesive and some basic supplies like scissors and pens. You can go to a scrapbook class or demo at your local scrapbook store. If you have a Michaels near you, tomorrow from 1-4 is a free Scrapbook Discovery Day - you can see some demonstrations and make two different cards - all free.

Keep us posted on your progress!!

I just joined today. I am a grandmother and like to scrap things I've done with the grandchildren so that I can give to them some memories

Linda - they will thank you for that when they are older!!!  That is awesome!  And welcome!!!

I prefer to scrapbook by myself in the evening most of the time - that is when I get the most done.

Lori - you are not alone in that.   I host a monthly crop and I find that I do not get much done on those nights.   I "work" best when the house is quiete and everyone is asleep:)   Unless, of course, I'm wasting time on the computer.

Welcome Sandy! Isn't it amazing that hours can just fly by when we scrapbook? I have some friends who get together to crop, but crop is sometimes code for socialize & drink. I am one of the few at the table scrapping. I prefer to scrapbook by myself in the evening most of the time - that is when I get the most done. They keep inviting me to a weekend retreat, but I am not sure how productive it would be....

Sandy,

I feel the exact way. I always joke that scrapbooking is my "happy place." And if I have an exceptionally bad day, I even tell my husband that I NEED to scrap. It may not be cheaper than therapy, but it works for me:)

So yes, you found some very like minded women here!
