I've been playing around with the idea of making scrapbook pages or cards and selling them. Does anyone do this and if so, how would I get started? I really enjoy my hobby and don't want it to become a "job" but who couldn't use a little extra money..especially with the holidays quickly approaching?! Would love any and all feedback from all of you!

You know... I would be interested as well. I make all my own cards now and would love to make this into something more. I would be just as interested in this information. I have often thought about opening my own little craft store. I just wish I knew someone in my area that had the same dream!!

wow haven't caught this thread-we have chatted about this several times in the past in scrapping mama's and I have put my reply in other threads. I have been creating custom made professional scrapbooks for more the 5 years-so it is possible. There are actually quite a few laws and regulations but it is not impossible!! I want to thank Jodi for posting the information about angel policies-there are so many people that try and run a business (or a hobby turned into trying to make a bit of profit) that do not follow TOU (terms of use) and angel policies. I know several people who have gotten into trouble (big fines) for not following properly. I love what I do! I would be happy to talk/chat if you are interested. (also search the archives of this group as there are posts about this topic with good information)

I make them and sell them on ebay. I really enjoy it. I just sell what I make. Also Etsy is good to sell on too. I sell 2 pages at a time. That way it is not to much for someone to pay for and you tend to sell more that way. I love doing it.

Quoting Traci:

I would love to do the same. I have a cricut and I see people cutting shapes and selling them on there...but I think that violates the terms of use agreeements with provocraft. That's kinda the only thing holding me back from doing what you are talking about....I don't know all the legal stipulations that are involved with something like that.

To start off I would suggest maybe starting a blog...that's what I'm currently doing. It's really easy and you get paid based upon the amount of people who click on your ads.

Good luck in your ventures! :)

Do you have a blog??  If so email it to me please.  quita0834@yahoo.com  I would love to see soem of your pages and may want to purchase some.  What size pages do you make  and would you make requested pages?

Thanks.

Let me know if you start a blog, I would love to see some of your designs... I stay busy and have considered buying premade pages to keep my baby book up now that I'm back to work.

I've seen completed pages for sale on eBay, maybe you could look into that.

You can always bombard the magazines and publications with your favorite layouts. Some magazines will pay you $100 per if they publish your layout. Look on scrapbooksetc.com for information on how to ge tyour layout published in their magazine and tips for others.

Have you checked out becoming a Creative Memories Consultan? I just love helping people create beautiful memories with their photos and have never felt like it was a "job", but a great way to make some extra cash. Then you could still do pages and books for people and get your product at cost. check out my website at www.mycmsite.com/robinmann

Kaaren, that's a good point. Would have NO IDEA on what to charge or how ornate to make things. Have looked on Etsy.com to see what people charge and not sure if those prices are similar to what others charge or not.

Hi there! I sold finished albums for a little while, and it did turn into a job. My main problem was that they were too costly for people to purchase, even buying the supplies wholesale, and not charging much for my time.

I've thought about doing the same exact thing! My thoughts were to create the books with the artsty pages and sell them that way, or people trust you enough or you get established enough, you may be able to have people drop their pics off to you and have a consulting session where they can tell you what they are looking for, etc., and you just put your creativity to work. You can post your service on craigs list, face book postings, here, etc. Hope this helps!

I have friends that sell them at church bazaars, carnivals, Big E, etc. I believe as long as your not selling the provocraft as "your own" then it should not be a problem. Your not taking business away from them. Your actually giving them good advertisement. However, please check into the legalities. Best of luck to you in your endeavors!

Mandy, I sell scrapbooking products, and some of my customers make cards to sell at the markets. You may also find that some gift shops, etc, may take handmade cards on consignment to sell for you. I also have customers who do wedding invitations and the like...... a lot of people want handmade wedding invitations without paying a fortune for them, but they don't have the creativity to do them themselves.
