I have been scrapbooking for about 8 years and am obssessed with it! I love it! I started a scrapbook for my husband and I (it starts the night we met) and I started one for my daughter. There are alot of pages with my daughter in them. Plus I also have a brand new neice. I love the color pink but it's taking over my scrapbook. Any ideas for other colors for girls? Also, any ideas for good color combinations for girls? I want to still keep it girly (purples, yellows, creams..) but want to mix it up. Thank you!

PURPLE is the one color my two daughter absolutely love even more so than pink. Other good colors are turquoise, light blues, bold reds, crimson, dark pink, soft yellows, and bright greens. They're all bright!

i have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters so lots of girlie things. use bit of mauves and greens and also the right red/pinkcombo is a fave. Have done a few total white pages too with white texture. embossed paper adn white lace and ribbon. great for baby girls as well. tehn again I have used the sepia browns creams and aqua for sepia tone photos. Add some antique lace and ribbon in your crams and its is very girly.

I would go shopping. The children's gap store or the children's place. The stores are divided into girls on one half boys on the other. They have all the colors that are 'in' right now. And they have payed someone to coordinate it all for you. Just write them down or Take a photo - then go to the paper store and shop.

i really like the look of brown and pink, or brown and bright green :) for a girl (imo) you can use any colour you want and then just add glitter and bling to keep it girly looking!

I think a soft peach and tans are really nice, with cream accents. Or, the punk rocker look with the hot pink and black, could really be any bright color with black. Just keep the "bling and glitter" on high!

Im a scrapbooking nanna, I love pink and purple for my grandaughter, but have done a few gorgeous pages in cream/beige, finding it easy to girlify a neutral colored or even masculine colored page with a little lace and a few flowers.
Set yourself a challenge of a non pink page, just to see how easy it really is, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Hi
One of my favorites together are a pretty coral. Put the coral with the brighter pinks, and a splash of very light or very bright lemon yellow. This combination makes a sunny, bright very girly color combination. If you have some photos of little girls playing in summer sun, this works really well.

Chocolate goes with pink, purple, yellow, green, blue. I think you are restricting yourself though with your color pallet. It can still be girly and have no pink in it. My new fave color is orange in every shade I can find and it looks nice with blue/green shades. Sage and orange look great together with some cranberryish reds thrown in.I have several pages that are mostly pinks and reds with my hubby and son on them...I worried they might be too girly to have boys on them, but they are that grungy looking paper plus I threw in some skull and bones grunge board pieces to add some masculinity. LOL!

I like matching colors with what my kids have on or one of my girls has the brightest blue eyes and she always looks good with a light blue behind her

I am not afraid to use Blue for a girls page, it works great. Especially because I have a blond haired blue eyed beauty...it makes her eyes 'pop'. I also like using green and yellow.

Hi Debra
For me when I am doing my kids albums. I am always thinking blue for boy just like you are for girl. One thing that I do is always pull color out of the picture is she is wearing pink and brown pants and the background is in the park by flower look for two most dominate color in the photo. If its blown and pink then I choose colors that match the photo. But if the flower colors are more dominate when you can use so many other colors.
I really like putting these colors together
Pink & Blown
Pink & Black
Pink & Teal
Orange & Cream
Pink & Green
Red & Green
Orange & Green
Turquoise and Green

I have noticed a recent trend people are using green. Often it is used in combination with blue or pink.

The color green is use a lot with shade of blue, black, purple, cream, red, yellow for most of my boys albums.
Green often indicates nature, serenity and comfort. It is a calm and relaxing color. Green is often considered a neutral color so it combines well with many different colors.
I hope I have helped abit.
Sandra.

Match the colors to her clothes or something in the background. I use a lot of black and white.

purples and greens are a nice change of colors from pink for a girl. I also like light yellows and oranges too, especially for fall scrapbooks!

Baby blue with Different shades of pink with bows, hearts, etc. My daughter has pj's that are baby blue with different shades of pink hearts and a big pink Giraffe on it. used it for inspiration in my scrapbook. My scrap book cover is a few shades of greens & browns and has little pink flowers on it. I think any color can work with a girlie pattern.

have u thought of googling color wheel to get some other color combos ? i like monochromatic pinks sometimes...even adding a darker color to loosen it up a bit. maybe adding patterned papers with pink in it , so it doesn't over load the whole album ?peach color ? lime pastel green ? deep purple is a personal fave , good luck & let us know how u go xx

Try adding mint green, sage green, bright blues etc.

I have your problem! I hated pink growing up, it was such a weak color, lol but then my daughter was born. In my husbands' family this generation was sparse on girls. Both of his brothers had 2 boys. He had a son from a previous marriage too, so we had 3 boys. Getting a girl... I got a lot of sideways looks. Jerks, anyway.

I went nuts with the pink. Now my daughters favorite color is pink. Her room looks like a pepto bismal plant. Magenta curtains, pepto pink walls, cream pink carpet, purple and pink bed with dark pink/light pink reversible comforter.... that was HER doing, lol.

Grab a sage green sheet and look for complimentary pink & cream girly accents!

Hi Debra, I'm a scrapbooking grandma and I love working on pages for our daughters and granddaughters. Other than pinks, I like shades of teal. Also like to use pale sage with deep purple. I'll be watching your responses to see if I can get more ideas also. Take care & God bless.
