I'm so excited to kick off this brand new group on Circle of Moms. I would love to hear from each of you why you consider yourself a "secular homeschooling mom."

I'm going to start homeschooling my 2 daughters (9 & 11) this Fall. We are christian, but VERY liberal and I want my daughters to be open minded and have the oppurtunity to learn about different religions and cultures. I want them to be able to make their own choices about their spirituality and not feel like it's being forced on them. I also don't like to be part of groups where people believe their way is the only way.

I'm so glad to see a group like this on here!
I am homeschooling my 4 year old daughter. I am from New York and never knew anyone that was homeschooled. I am not religious at all and want to be able to teach my daughter at her own pace. I will concentrate on subjects that she is interested in so that she can grow into her own person. We belong to a great support group in Nevada that plans a variety of social events, play dates and field trips.

I am a homeschool mom since my child hit 3rd grade. She's now in 5th. I'm SOOOO tired of the curriculums being saturated in religious nonsense and find myself struggling to find curriculum based on facts my child will use to move on to college. Bible class just isn't going to do that. This site is great!! Finally, I can research through curriculum without wasting the precious educational time with my daughter. Does anyone have any suggestions on an entire curriculum package for 6th grade?

I'm not a homeschooling mom, either. But I want to be at least somewhat, and am definitely supportive of it. I want it to be a choice available to me. I like the concept and benefits of virtual/online schooling. So why do you want to homeschool?

Not really sure what I'm doing yet but I'll get the hang of it lol. Well I've already said it on the forum but I'm not technically a homeschooling mom yet, my son is only 12 months old lol. We're a future secular homeschooler because regardless of what our religious and spiritual beliefs are, it has nothing to do with our decision to homeschool.
