(little rant before I start)- So, no search feature huh. That is really lame, so everyone just posts the same questions over and over and no one really gets any good advice because their "conversation" disappears and no one ever sees it again. You'd think facebook would be more on it than that.

Anyway, my comment/question is about making the transition from crib to bed and how it's going with anyone else. We have the bed and plan to make the transition this Sunday (June 7th). E has been attempting to climb out of her crib a lot lately and I'm afraid she will fall and hurt herself (she fell once about 2 months ago and hurt herself just enough to scare her from really doing it again). She is 21m and a really great sleeper (STTN 8pm-8am most nights) so I'm hoping it won't be a big issue. She puts herself to sleep every night usually within 5-20 min depending on how tired she is. We'll see if she just stays in bed or gets up and into things.

We transitioned our Hayley when she was 16 months. Not because she was attempting to crawl out of the bed but because she went from sleeping through the night to waking up constantly. She's very independant and I just got the feeling she ws waking up because she felt like she was being confined. Her toddler bed holds the same mattress we used in her crib so she's not in a bigger bed or anything but the very first night, she just crawled in her big girl bed like she'd done it all her life. She hasn't looked back! I do get nervous about her maybe deciding to get up and climb on things so before I tuck her in, I put a couple of her toys in her closet that she could use to climb on if she wanted but she's done really well and I'm sure yours will, too! Keep us posted!

I just did the transition also this Saturday the 6th. I took the front off of the crib, which converts into a toddler bed. He rolled out of it at least 3 times last night. Thankfully it's only about a foot high. Good luck. I'm sure she will do fine. Just a transition for them and the parents. :)

So night 1 with the bed. First off my mother suggested keeping the crib in his room while we were transitioning. This is fine and I don't know if it is needed or not. I put him to bed about 8:30pm with him falling asleep close to 9pm. He woke up at 11pm and I sat next to him (he loves to snuggle). He wanted milk so I got him some in a sippy, he took 2 sips and went back to sleep. I tiptoed out of room. (this took about 10 minutes total) Then he woke up at 5ish am and I just put him in my bed and he slept till about 8am. Tonight 2nd night, he fell asleep about 8:20am (only 1 hour nap today) and we will see how it goes. Now I also have his bed against a wall for 1 side and a guard rail on the other side - suggested by many. So Hopefully this helps you. I am interested to see how it goes for you on Sunday!!!

Just trying this tonight with my 20month old will let you know how it goes! Although tomorrow we will be sleeping at g-mas house, so I was hoping to make the transition a little bit at a time.
