Sophi is crawling like a champ but still isn't walking at all. But, this is my third child so I'm not worried because my instincts tell me she's exactly where she's supposed to be and I know all children move at their own pace. I think it's always best to be proactive and if you're instincts tell you something is off or your just not sure, then call and talk with a nurse at your pediatricians office. Knowledge is always power!

My daughter will be 14 months on the 10 November and she is still only crawling. But I am not worried because she was 7 weeks preemie. I am quite happy as she is going to be my last and I know that as soon as they start walking their attitude changes. So I am enjoying her at the moment.

My son on the other handwill pull himself up but WILL NOT stand on his own, will walk with help but not for long, he's just not interested yet.

Mine isn't walking yet either, but although his older brother walked on his 1st birthday, his older sister didn't walk until she was almost 15 months, so I'll give him a little more time. He's been like that since birth - just doing things on his own schedule.

My daughter (Sept 9) only started pulling herself to standing a few weeks ago, and can very slowly cruise now. It's really nothing to worry about at this point, all babies develop at their own pace, and girls are often slower on the movement side than boys anyway.
My daughter started cruising at 10 months, but didn't let go of the furniture and start walking until 5 days after her first birthday. She also has 12 teeth already! However, she's not talking. She babbles, has 5 signs that she can do, and wants to know the name for everything!! But hasn't started repeating words yet. Some of you probably have babies with several words already. It amazes me how different babies are developmentally. Maybe your baby will start walking when mine starts talking! :-)

My daughter, Chloe, JUST started to walk last week...it;s typical for firsts or families with more that one child. Mine is the baby and has 3 other sisters/brother so they cater to her! My Dr said he wouldn't start to worry until about 14 mo.

My daughter just started to walk. She is well behind her older sisters. She still prefers to crawl. My husband and I would sit on the floor just a few inches away from each other and let her try that short distance. When she was comfortable with that we would move a little further each time. Don't worry when your child is ready they will just take off. Good luck!

I read recently that the average age to walk is actually 14 months. Our daughter just started walking, but would prefer to crawl because it is faster and works better. I also read that it has more to do with temperament, then anything else. I have one nephew who didn't walk until 16 months, but could ride a bike without training wheels when he was 4. I have another nephew who didn't walk until 16 months. He had to be sure he could do it before he wanted to try.

My son is 13 months and is also not walking yet. However, he is a very fast crawler. I read an article recently that babies who crawl well are more likely to be content with crawling and walk later. My daughter never really crawled and she walked at 10 months.

Every baby moves at their own pace. Bring it to your drs attention and don't sweat it until you have a reason to. In the meantime force your baby to things for him/herself like get toys. We bribed our daughter with snacks and every day she is more and more confidant in her steps.

My son will be 13 months on Oct. 27th and he crawls super, but he is not walking on his own yet. He has taken about 15 steps consistently a few weeks ago, but he knows that he can very easily get down and crawl and go anywhere this way!!! But, he LOVES to walk by just holding on to your pinky.....so I know it's a security issue. But, it's still enough to worry me!!! :-)
