I think it might be a different issue then I am dealing with. However my daugher will be 3 in Sept as well and has a "feeding" disorder. Ie...she will NOT eat most food. Our doctor told us that if she wont eat food that I need to get the calories in her however possible. She is on a toddler formula and drinks it three times a day. It tastes terrible so she will only drink it from a bottle. She is able to drink from a non lid cup too.

My daughters been off the bottle since 12 mos & just recently is taken off a sippy cup as well. She has been able to drink from a cup with no lid since her 2nd bday. I feel that if they are able to drink without a cup that they should as soon as possible. When they start pre school they'll be ready. My main reason is for dental reasons!! Tooth decay & crooked teeth...Good luck :)

My son is the same age as yours and still has a bottle at nap time and before bed and then brushes his teeth. I think you should do whatever feels right. If it is important to her, I wouldn't make a huge issue out of it.

As long as she's not falling asleep with a bottle in her mouth it shouldn't have any bad effects physically. Some toddlers still rely on the comfort of their bottles, so why take them away? I still know some 2 year olds who will have a bottle of milk before bed, get their teeth brushed, then go to bed, and I see no problem in that. My daughter pretty much got herself off the bottle when she was 2, but I wouldn't have forced it.

Hi Jennifer, I'd also have to say no. I weaned my first three by the age of 1, but I'll admit I let my baby keep hers a bit longer, about 15 months. Where we live, complete strangers will give you "helpful advice" or even downright nasty comments about toddlers with a bottle or pacifier. Obviously it isn't any of their business, but that doesn't usually stop anyone. Best for her and easier for you in the long run! Best of luck!

Yeah, I agree, it's time to make the switch. I would imagine that another reason would be for dental reasons. Experts say you want to have your child done with pacifiers around 3 or so, in an effort to avoid any issues with how their adult teeth grow in.

I personally think she should be on a sippy cup...she may be singled out and such. I know its hard to make them advance to the next stage, but that is the hard parts of being a mom. It doesn't in any way make you a bad mommy. She will fight for it but its best to whin her. Just my opinion.
