Hi,
I just want to share what we've been through.
My son, Sean, was born on Sept 2 2007.
He's been an active and healthy baby, except he DIDN'T EAT.
I started to feed him baby cereal, homemade applesauce, mashed bananas, and all Gerber/Beechnut, you name it, I have tried it. And he took none.
He breastfed every hour, night and day (Oh my!).
I kept trying this and that, either homemade or store bought.
No Cheerios, no cookies, not even ice cream and chocolate!
It's been like that till he was 14 month when he finally started taking rice and chicken soup.
But, it lasted for only a month.
I was thinking the whole time about going to a therapist, but my ped said it was ok.
He would eat eventually.
Until we moved to another state and we went to a different ped.
His first reaction was recommending us to take Sean to a feeding therapist.
And that works!
They analyzed the way Sean eats, the way he moves/crawls/walks.
Soon we were told that Sean doesn't feel comfortable with his stomach.
It also made him "scoots" instead of "crawls".
They give us prescription Pepcid and Mylanta to help ease the uncomfortable feeling.
Now Sean is eating well.
Still on mushy. soft diet, but at least he takes something.
He is still breast feeding, just less often.
We are still going to for the therapy, to help Sean to start eating solid.
Well, I think it is fun to share!
We wish we went to the therapist earlier.
Regards,
Julie
