Hi everyone, just wondering where my daughter is with everyone else's kids....... She turned 4 months old on the 19th of this month and went to the doctor Wenseday for her well baby check and was 13 lbs 15.2oz and 23 3/4 inches long. She started solids about a week ago and will only eat her cereal if I mix applesauce with it. She hasn't mastered rolling over yet, but does manage to get up on her side quite often. (from back to belly). How are your little ones doing? Has anyone bought a high chair yet? Tips on picking one out.......

My son Jacob turned 4 months on Jan. 18th. At his appt. the next day he weighed 15lbs, 4 oz and was 25 inches. He is exclusively nursed still. I'm not in a hurry to start solids if he isn't...plus his Dr. encouraged to wait until 6 months. He loves his tummy time and does roll over front to back. He loves sitting in his highchair (space saver) and playing in his jumperoo. He is a very happy baby...loves to laugh and smile. Just last week he began sleeping through the night and sleeps from about 9pm until 6am. A word of advise to all you new moms...coming from a mom of 4 with a set of twins...don't get too worried that your baby isn't doing what everyone else's is. Each baby is different...my twins never met milestones together. My 2 1/2 year old didn't roll from his back to tummy until about 6 1/2 months but was walking by 9 1/2 months. Enjoy each day and celebrate each milestone...they will get there.

My son was born September 30. At his check he was 17.10 and 27in.  He is at the point were he refuses to be on his back.  When he got his first cold he learned how to scream and it's been hell ever since.  I kills our eardrums but he loves it.

It's nice to know that my daughter, Josie, has company in the 90th percentile range. She weighed in at 16 lbs and 25 inches. Her sis is in the 75th percentile at 14 lbs and 25 1/4 inches.

My daughter was born September 24th and had her 4 month check up this week. She weighed 16 pounds and was 25 inches long. She is a big girl but came out as a big girl! I haven't started cereal yet but plan on it in the next week or two. She started rolling over this week too only from back to tummy. I enjoyed reading what other babies her age are doing.

My Little Guy was 4 months on Jan 11, and he weighed in at 15 pounds 5 ounces and about 26 inches long. He was in the 80% tile for height and 60 % for weight. Hes been sitting in his high chair since he was about 3 months old and he LOVES it, I can get so much done and he loves being at our height when we eat! Hes not rolling over yet for us! Just started rice cereal mixed with some prune juice and he loves the taste but hasnt mastered the skill yet, most of it comes back out!

Kelly,

My little one too has reflux and had issues with weight gain, so much so that my doctor had me put her on a few ounces of formula a day in the 1st few weeks because she wasnt gaining enough. Then she just somehow started gaining more and I went back to all breastmilk (breastfeeding & pumping). She is on Zantac for the reflux and it totally changed her. Her first few weeks with her crying I thought she was colicy and did the whole buy a swing purchase and labeled her colicy, when once she started on the meds she was a different baby. Her 2 month old visit she was 5th percentile and I was so obsessed with feeding her and getting bottles in to her but now at her 4 month old visit she is 13.3lbs and in the 50th percentile.

I just went to the website at Babies R Us and read all the reviews on the high chairs. We ended up buying the Nature's Purest High Chair. Very sturdy and the wheels have locks on them.  My daughter is 4 1/2 months old and she likes it.

I started 1st fruits and veggies es when I started cereal. My son likes when I mix the 2. Also I waited 2-3 days between each new variety/flavor. So if he did react I would know what caused it. I will also mix his cereal with gerber juice. He likes the pear juice and white grape juice the best. The apple juice seemed to cause some spit up, but the Garden juice which is carrot and apple seemed to be ok.

My little guy is a BIG boy!  At 4 months 2 wks old, he weighed 18 lbs 2 ozs and was 26.5 inches long.  He falls in the 95-97 percentile.  At birth Sept. 10, he was 8lbs 10oz and 20.25 inches.  I have been feeding him rice cereal since about a month old...obviously alot thinner then, but he was colicky and had reflux and cereal would stay with him longer.  I also started him on fruits early because a side effect of colic is constipation, so we put prunes or pears in his cereal and it has done wonders!!!  He is now eating all fruits and veggies in stage 1 and loves everything!!!

We got a highchair from the baby shower but haven't tried it yet.  We also got a bumbo chair and he despises that thing.  So I feed him in his bouncer.

He rolled over (belly to back) for the first time at 3 months and has done it a few times but isn't to interested in it.  His new thing right now is trying to roll over back to belly and army crawl.  He jabbers non-stop and I think sometimes he's actually saying words...but doubtful!

Hi my little guy is 4months 3 weeks old. At his 4month check up he weighed 15lbs was 25inches long. He is eating cereal rice and oatmeal and has started on baby food too. He is rolling over from belly to back, loves to stand up and sit up. I bought the EvenFlow Exressions Plus high chair for feeding times. I love that it is not very big size wise and you can adjust the height of it 7 levels but the best part of this chair is that it folds and is very compact. I am loving my time off with Johnathan and am dreading September already.

My son is 5 months today and on the 19th of January (4 1/2 months) he was 18 pounds and 25 1/4 inches long. He was 7 lbs5oz and 20.5 in at birth (3 weeks early). He's built exactly like his father. Their baby books reflect the same robust growth. He's just started rolling over both ways (tummy to back and back to tummy), he loves to stand and jump, he's all about putting things into his mouth, and he's very focused on his hands and reaching out to grab things.

Note on the Bumbo seat (and tray): many babies need to get used to sitting at a 90 degree angle so keep trying the seat little by little. We also use the Bumbo to feed him and add the tray when he has floor time with his toys.

My son Ethan turned 4 mos on January 9th. He had his checkup on Jan 12th and weighed 16lbs, 4oz. He is 26 inches long. They said he's pretty tall for his age (92nd%) so that's why he weighs so much. Our doctor said to start the cereal at 5 months - so we will begin next week. I am very excited!!! Hope all goes well! He loves rolling over and laying on his side. He's been able to push himself up since 2 months so I am wondering when he will crawl. Also for the last month he's not satisfied with the boppy - he wants to sit up. So he does so in his bumbo and high chair...

My daughter had her 4 month appointment January 12th. She was 12 lbs. 13 oz. and 29 inches tall (she is tall for her age however). She hasn't really started rolling over much yet, just the very rare time she gets it right. She is trying really hard to get herself up to crawl and sit lately though. I started her on cereal around 3 months because she seemed really hungry all the time and just breastfeeding wasn't satisfying her. She loves it and is now onto some of the veggies, all of which she has liked as well except for the squash.

My daughter turned 4 months on Jan 17th. At her check up on 1/19 she was 15.5 oz and 25.5  inches. She started solids the next day after the appt. I do cereal & fruit in the am & eral & veggie in the pm. My dr told me solids 3x a day but i think that is too much. So we go 2x's a day and thats it. As for sleeping - she goes in at 8-8:30 and sleeps till 5:30-6:00. She uses her highchair to feed and her bumbo to watch a little tv. I highly recommend one.

My son turned 4 months on Thursday the 29th. He weighed 15 lbs and was 24 and 5/8 inches long. Doctor said he's right smack dab on the 50th percentile for both. Crazy. We gave him rice cereal mixed with breast milk on Saturday. He's been eyeballing our food when we eat so we thought we'd give it a shot. He loves it. We're trying to just feed him one tbs right before bed to help him sleep better. So far it hasn't worked really well, but I think he's still recovering from his vaccinations. Did you see any improvement in your child's sleep when you added cereal?

Stephen was 4 months on the 19th of jan, hes been sitting (unsteadily) for a while, but only rocks cannot roll over yet! hes very strong on his legs tho, loves standing up. he was 15lbs and 3oz weighed, they didnt tell me his height but he looks long! i started him on baby rice at the weekend and it must have been the right time for it because he ate the lot straight away. he sleeps a lot since starting on food though, hes always slept through the night but was awake all day, not anymore. hes not interested in toys other than putting them in his mouth. he gets fed in a sort of rocker chair as i think hes too small for a high chair just yet!

My daughter turned 4 mos. on the 18th. She was 15 lbs. 4 oz. and 26 1/2 inches at her dr. apt. She has rolled from tummy to back around 10 times since the end of December, but this past week she is going from back to tummy all the time! I pick her up from naps and she's on her tummy. I also just started feeding her rice cereal and she's sleeping 7 hours now, as opposed to 3 1/2. I think her little tummy is now fuller than with breastmilk. We haven't used her high chair yet, we feed her in her car seat and it works for us. I think we'll wait until she's able to sit up a little bit better.

HI there,
my son turned 4 months on the 18th of this month. He weighed in at 20 lbs, 8 oz and 27 3/4 inches long. ( He was 10 12.5 and 22 3/4 at birth) My son was rolling from belly to back at one month, but now has no interest in it.....he gets mad because he is trying to pull himself along! He can roll from his back to his side.
I have a high chair, which has the ability to recline for infants....I haven't used it yet.
I do give him a little bit of rice cereal before his final feed before bed, but I just use his infant/toddler chair. Our high chair was given to us as a gift, so I didn't have to pick one out. We were also given a travel booster seat, just like a high chair only smaller and more portable. My son is not yet sitting up on his own, he tries, but is not there yet.....I think the average for that is about 5 or 6 months.
Is your daughter sitting on her own?

Hello, my little guy Cohen went for his check up and shots yesterday, he is 16 pounds 9 ounces and 25 1/2 inhes long. He has been on rice cereal for a couple weeks now. (as fomula was no longer filling him up). We are using the Bumbo chair for the time being, once he starts on the other foods we will look into a high chair, but for now the Bumbo works perfectly.

Our son, Kylar, was 4 months old on the 23rd and he weighs 19 lbs 2.4 ounces and is 27 inches long. He's in the 95th percentile for both heigh and weight.  He is already eating baby food he took so well to the rice cereal that the doctor said we could try baby food so far he's in love with carrots and squash and doesn't care for banans!!  We have a Graco highchair and one of the most convient things with it is the high chair slides up and down to different highs so for now we keep it low so we can sit in a chair and feed him but once he gets older he can sit up little higher at the kitchen table.  He was 2 teeth coming in and so far he can roll half way over he gets up on his side but usually just falls backwards.

well, Shelby was 25.25 inches long and 15.12 lbs at 4 m 8 days. Shelby is able to roll over from backk to tummy but can't roll back over. I guess she should have rolled from tummy to back first, oh well. She can sort of balance her self sitting up. I have bought her a high chair and she seems to like it now that I've figured out how to use it. It's a Kolcraft Contours high chair. I chose that one because it's easy to clean and has a little cup on the bottom I can slide off to get rid of crumbs. To me I can't stand nasty high chairs ick.

My son is a big boy....he's almost 5 months, weighs almost 20 lbs and is 27 inches tall. I am going to start solids this week - he's not a huge eater so I'm not sure how he's going to react. He doesn't roll over yet but lifts his head up (like he's doing crunches) and has been attempting to roll onto his belly. I haven't put him in the high chair yet because he's not very stable in his sitting position.

Kelly,

First of all, thank you for your patience with all of us who brag about our little one's size.  We're proud.  My heart goes out to you with your little one having trouble eating. I would be petrified.  It's so scary having a little one.  I have no advice, but can offer prayer.  I pulled back on solids simply because she had bowel issues.  Her pediatrician said feeding at his point is just an exercise in learning to use her tongue.  So I said no more raw bum.  Trust your intuition.  Forget all of us with big babies.  Yours is what is important.  Do your mommy thing and forget everything else.  Oh yeah, breathe, pray, read.....breathe.

This is a reply for Kelly. You might want to see about some occupational therapy. I think that's the right word. My third child, Judah has Down Syndrome and his physical therapist has had her first son and he was about 8 months old when she was saying that he has  a hard time keeping food down too. He's a totally normal healthy baby, just has a hard time eating solids. So she was able to get him therapy. You might want to look into that. It's amazing what the therapist can do with such young babies. I was blown away. Hope that helps.

Why is everyone so anxious to start solids. Megan, don't stress about starting solids this soon. I am waiting until she's showing signs of wanting something besides to nurse. She's still not grabbing for my fork when I eat so I'm holding off as long as possible. It's just one more person I have to feed I guess (I have four kids). Plus, I hear my Dr.'s words in my head "You can't grow a baby on solids". And my breastmilk is the best thing for her nutritionally. Don't mean to be the odd ball who comes in here and messes things up, but it's just my personal opinion.

Wow Beth, I can't even get my head around quadruplets!!!  One baby was hard enough, I don't know how you managed 4!!!  Were you able to breastfeed them??  And as for nights - I don't even want to think about your sleep routine!!!

Does anybody have a reflux baby???  Ella has silent reflux, so she doesn't spew, but hates food.  Every feed since she was about 6 weeks old has been a fight to get the food into her.  And prior to that, she used to cry and scream for up to 8 hours everyday.  I couldn't breasfeed her so I express my milk and bottle feed her.

I've just started a completely dairy free diet to see if that improves things - lots of reflux babies have milk protein allergies (and even gluten and soy allergies),

Before she was on medication, she didn't put on even an ounce some weeks which was so incredibley stressful.

Does anyone have any similar stories??  I'm assuming all the 15 pound + babies don't have a problem with food.  I'm very envious of people with hungry babies!!!

Thanks.

Hi all! I have quadruplets that turned 4 mos on the 8th. Their checkup was on the 12th and I am thrilled with their progress! Paige is our smallest at 11lb Julia is 11lb 1oz Isabella is 11lb 12oz and Drew is our big man at 14lb. Julia rolls over belly to back but can't quite get her arm tucked for back to belly. Drew and Izzy are sooo close to rolling over and Paige isn't even interested. We have 4 high chairs for them, but I havent even set them up yet.

I would say let your daughter do her thing, she sounds perfectly healthy. I'm just now trying to get my son on schedule from all his diet changes. His doctor said there it NO need to start solids before 6 months, not even cereal. It can cause skin problems, tummy troubles, and gas issues. He told me that about a month to late..lol

She hasn't started on solids yet, almost everywhere I read it says to starts solids at 6 months. I'm not sure what to do. She loves to sleep, she sleep at least 10-11 hours straight at night and feeds between every 3-4 hours. It seems she's quite content with what she is getting at the moment and that's why I am waiting to start the solids...is that ok?
She hasn't rolled over yet. She loves to kick and talk!

Quoting Allison:

After you introduced cereal how soon do you start introducing fruit and veggies?

My daughter would not eat cereal plain so after her doctor's appt. we began to add applesauce to it and now she loves it. I was told as a general rule to wait about two weeks to introduce fruits and veggies. We were also told to start veggies first so that she doesn't reject them later on.

He has also mastered rolling over both ways, and lifts himself up pretty good. He is trying to crawl but he only does an inch worm thing. He is always on the move!!
