Quoting Carmen:

Our youngest is only on a sippy cup. All of my kids have been off at a year. He drinks from a regular Tupperware sippy, not a no spill one. I always started by replacing one feeding at a time with the cup instead of nursing or a bottle. Some kids are more stubborn than others. With some you have to go cold turkey eventually. They may protest but will get over it. Another thing to try is cups with straws instead. Some kids like those better to start with. Whatever you do, don't give up. Also, if you offer a tippy and they throw a fit then instantly hush when you take the tippy and offer a bottle- don't give them the bottle. They are smart cookies and are learning to throw the fit so you give in and give the bottle :)

It is AMAZING how smart they really are and can play "the game." Mine is only one and she knows exactly what to do in order for me to give in!  I finally caught on and became more disciplined! :)

I am currently trying to get her off of the bottle. Today is the f irst day actually. The pediatrican told me it is like a "take it or leave it "deal. If she doesn't take the sippy- too bad, you don't get your milk to drink. Eventually she will deal with it and then want to drink out of the sippy. Easier said than done, I'm sure- if I see anything that works I'll let you know.

You can also try different sippy cups, he might like one style over another (i.e. hard vs soft nipples). Good Luck!!!

It took while to get my son on sippy cups, but basically anything other than formula or breastmilk went in the sippy. He's all about the water, so since I don't have to worry about it going bad in a couple hours I keep a sippy out where he can reach it so he can just drink when he wants.

i just got my son off the bottle one day i just gave him everything in the sippy and he did fine he was a lil fussy about it for a minute but then he just didnt care he hasnt had a bottle for a week and hes adjusting fine i give him the cups with the soft tips so its pretty much like a bottle but its considered a cup he does fine with the hard cups too so i guess its safe to say hes off the bottle every kid does things at thier own pace ya really cant force them but some people i know just had to deal with the kid screaming for a while after a while they get used to it

Thats actually fairly common. I am having problems with my DS as well getting him off the bottle. I've only ever given him formula in his bottle, everything else in a sippy. I tried just over a month ago to take the bottle away and he completely flat out refused it. Being that he wasn't quite 11months at the time I didn't push it and decided to wait. I tried again a couple weeks later and got the same reaction. I decided at that point I was going to wait until he wsa off of formula and onto cows milk before switching, but now it turns out he has a dairy and soy allergy so he's going to be sticking iwth formula for awhle longer. My plan at this point with him is to try every couple of weeks and hope that in the next month we get somewhere.

I really wish I had a suggestion for you but I really don't, maybe try just taking his morning bottle away cold turkey, don't offer him anything else until he takes the cup. He will ((eventually)) take it because he'll be hungry. Once he's used to that take another bottle away. Good luck to you :)
