Hi, i'm just wondering what kinds of things do you do during the day to keep your baby entertained. We have all kinds of little toys and a playmat, but sometimes i feel like she gets bored with that, and other than reading to her once in awhile or taking a walk i'm not sure what to do. Sometimes i feel like i should be doing more, but just not sure what to do?!?! My baby will be 5 months soon.

I find my baby loves going out and seeing people. Meeting friends for coffee, going to Mom & Baby groups, playdates and storytime at the library. I've been amazed at how good she is sitting on my lap while I'm chatting with friends/other mom, but she is very entertained by other people. Find a local mom and baby group to go to every week and see if any moms are interested in meeting up occasionally for play dates. Check into activities in your community for kids i.e. at the library, mall entertainment, petting zoos, ect. Sometimes things might be too advanced for her, but she will likely love being out and meeting other babies!

I know what you mean. It's hard to know what to do to stimulate them, but I guess they're pretty stimulated from just looking around and observing their surroundings. I take my daughter with me to do errands around town or to go grab coffee with a friend. She likes being around people and then it gives her something new to look at besides me and our house.

Exersaucer and jumperoo. I also lay him on his tummy and I get down on the floor with him and we spend 10-15 minutes there. Therre isn't much else to do with them in between feedings, diaper changes and naps.

At this age, babies do not need much extra. They are becomming more and more aware of their surroundings, so looking around is lots of stimulation. Your baby will likely get fussy if s/he is bored.

I know what you mean. I find that she really likes being in the sling. She loves looking at everything when I am walking around the house doing chores. I also bought a mommy/baby yoga video. It's a great way to interact and she is really entertained by all the activity.

I remember feeling that way with my first also right around 4/5 months. Babies this age may look bored to us (just starting and looking around) but actually are taking everything in, so even in you are just doing the laundry or cooking, or another household task and your baby is in the room watching you and you are talking to her while doing your stuff that's stimulation for her. Outings to stores or parks or places where their are people for her to watch is also very stimulating and good. It's a little easier the second time because I see my son watching my 2 year old daughter all day long and he is so intrigued by her and stimulated by just watching her play and sing and talk, so if you can be in places where their are other kids for her to watch that alone is entertainment for them. Hope this helps

I know exactly how you feel. I actually had a phone conversation with a friend yesterday about this. I also have talked to my husband about it as well. I'm a stay-at-home mom and feel like I should be doing more to stimulate Jaden. But there really isn't much we can do. I read, sing, put him on his play mat, do tummy time, play with him and his toys, walk him around the house [it's too cold outside], put him in his exersaucer and that's about it. I let him lay on the floor with his toys a lot. My husband says that he'll probably just grow to play by himself and keep himself entertained really well. I hope that's the case. He seems bored sometimes.
