Jordan is still in her crib like I posted earlier this month, but night and nap time at home have recently gotten easier. She has not been waking up in the middle of the night every night anymore (last night woke up 3 times, so third time I gave in and brought her to our bed). She seems to finally like her crib-when tired now kisses us all good night, gets a final diaper change, and goes in with her Sponge Bob pillow (she loves him, I find him mildly annoying, but whatever) and plays for 5-20 min before going to sleep. Because we have had such a hard time up until now, and she finally seems happy with sleeping in her crib not our bed, we will wait awhile before converting it to a toddler bed. It has 2 small railings to attach to it that I hope will prevent her from falling out. Besides climbing out of the crib, what other signs do toddlers show they are ready to move to a big kid bed?
Well since our 15 month old tried to face plant himself out of his crib (darn monkey and almost succeeding in shimmying up the bars and out), we moved him into a toddler bed after the holidays.
So far so good. Only a little trouble at nap time on occasion, but he stays in bed with no problems at night.

I tried last night for the first time but after the 5th time putting him back into the bed, I put him back in the crib. Both beds are in the same room and he will get into lay down or just sit on it, so I am kinda of leaving it up to him I will start him off in the toddler bed, then after 5 times of getting up I will put him back into the crib. So when he is ready to sleep in his big boy bed he can. No hurry to let him grow up, I hav a 18 year old so I know how fast they grow up.

My youngest (of four) is 16 months old. He has slept with me (just me, as I'm divorced) from day one. He's only slept in his crib twice. I've been using the crib mostly when I need a break from him getting into things or climbing all over me when I'm trying to do something. He's a shorty, so he can't get out of his crib yet. Not sure when I'll convert it to the toddler bed (it's a crib-4-life).

We are moving our son into a big boy bed in May or as soon as he tries to climb out of the crib. We are thinking of just putting a mattress on the floor. He won't be able to fall out during the night and he will easily be able to get in and out on his own.

Jordan is 16 mo and still in her crib-for most of the night. Sleep hasn't been the easiest for her or me, so when she wakes up sometime between midnight and 5am I bring her in bed with us (I don't fall asleep until midnight or later most nights and am working fulltime so...). Lately I have been wondering if she would do better or worse in a big girl bed. How can you tell they are ready for the transition? She hasn't tried to climb out yet

How do you feel about your son still co sleeping. My son has never slept in his crib. He was born 3 months early and I never felt comfortable unless he was close so I'd no if he choked or stopped breathing or something. However now that he is fifteen months he is terrified of sleeping in his crib at night and doesn't like it during naps. I think its gonna be a looong time before he can sleep alone....

my 15 month old is in a toddler bed and has been since she was about 10 months old, we shifted her because she would scream when put in the cot, we didn't have any trouble at all she fell out maybe 4 times and hasn't done so for atleast 2 months now. we are just starting to have a problem with her getting out of bed during the day but we simply put her back in bed until she stays there and she's slowly learning that when she gets put in bed of a day time she needs to have a sleep.

I have four and the youngest is almost 16 months. Our oldest went into a regular twin size bed at the age of 20 months, our daughter when she was 22 months, our third went in at exactly 2 and the baby will probably be going in the next couple of months. Thankfully none of them fell out of their beds (had a side rail put in for the first month just to be sure). The crib will finally be packed away.

my daughter has a transitional crib and it was as low as it would go we put her to bed and heard her escape and then knock on the door.it was adorable but scary because i thought she would never take another nap.we changed it into a toddler bed that night so she wouldn't hurt herself jumping out. I was right she never takes naps anymore, but she sleeps really well at night

We haven't switched Dierdre yet. She's not trying to climb out of the crib yet, and we're considering skipping a toddler bed and just putting a regular "big girl" mattress on the floor to begin with, then going to a twin bed for her. We figure it's even less of a fall than it would be from a toddler bed, and it saves the extra expense of the bed frame.

We tried putting my son in his toddler bed about 6 weeks ago, but he just wasnt having it, so we changed him back. Recently though, he has figured out how to climb out of his crib, so i think its time to try the bed again, and he just learns to deal with it. We were having a problem with him fighting taking a nap, but that seems to have subsided. im just worried that he will be a little too enticed to get down and play instead of taking a nap. He will have to figure it out though. We have another one on the way, so we are going to buy him a new bed, instead of buying a new crib. They are just so expensive.

Eli is not ready for a toddler bed yet at 15 months. With our oldest son, we moved him around 18 months, because he was showing signs that he was ready for a big boy bed. although we skipped the toddler bed and went straight to a twin bed. Both of our kids are so tall, that it seems like the next logical step, even though our crib converts.

Cameron has been in a toddler bed for about 3 months now. He fell out once but no injuries. He was starting to be able to climb out of the crib. I figured a fall from 1 ft was better than a few feet. He is able to now get in and out of bed on his own

my son Hunter is now in a big boy bed lol he does fine he loves the fact that he can go in and get in it himself ive never seen a 15 month old so excited before, we actually switched him on christmas and he was more excited about his bed then he was about all the new toys it was awesome he loves it and does very well in it. However i do think that every kid is defferent and should definitly be read before switching them over .....

My daughter is still in her crib. She is so not ready for the big girl bed; plus I move my kids straight into a twin bed and skip the toddler bed. I think 18 months is a good milestone to try, but my oldest daughter was almost 22 months before we moved her.

Yes our son beleive it or not has been in a big boy bed since he was 9 months old. He never slept well in a cot so we brought a Safe T Sleep wrap and has slept thru the night ever since. Because he went in a bed so young he knows that it means sleeptime and dosant get out of bed as soon as you close the door like my older four daughters did.
