To bring this back to light. I have finished the first 8 in the Sookie Stackhouse series and I must say YUMMY!! The first book coordinates with the HBO series True Blood season 1. After reading the first 8 books I bought the first season and must say I'm disappointed. Season two arrives in stores in May and although I'm not all that impressed with season one I've read the books and would like to follow them with the DVD's, even if I only watch them once.
Aleksandra, Midnight sun was awesome and provided some much more insight, I really hope she finishes it. Although if you check our Steph's site she had a new short story book on the life of Bree coming out which is supposed to provide some insight into the life of a "newborn".

Now, I've preordered Sookie book 9 which should be here by Friday and book 10 comes out next month. They only take a day or so to finish so I think I'll pick up a few books for the time in-between, thought I'm not sure what just yet??

Hi, I am of course big fan of Twilight but I found Midnight Sun ever more exciting. Now I need a clean break from Edwardmania :). Maybe some of you have any ebooks or sth like that. English books are quite expensive here in Poland. I will be very grateful :D

I like to read self-help books that are kinda choppy. I have read Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, Its all small stuff...(for parents also), 7 traits of highly effective people, etc. Lots of self help or magazines :)

I've read a lot of the books mentioned here, some other's I enjoyed recently are P.S. I Love You (much much better than movie), Confessions of a Shopaholic, the Mysterious Benedict Society series (very fun and light-hearted), The Shack, and The Hiding Place.

Some old favorites that I always love to re-read Seabiscuit: An American Legend, Little Women, Anne of Green Gables series, and A Rather Lovely Inheritance.

All time favorite book: Pride and Prejudice. I love Jane Austin.

Pam ::Muah:: someday girl when you aren't knee deep in textbooks you will read for passion.

Alicia - I started an finished My Sisters Keeps by Picoulti in 5 day and loved it, bought the movie and was dissappointed. My husband liked it but that was because he didn't know what he was missing from the book. More of her books are on my birthday list (end of the month).

Gretchen - I've just ordered the boxed set of the Sookie Stackhouse in hopes to read them before the next one is released in April/May... but reading 9 books in 6 weeks might be asking for to much unless I quit my job...lol. I read Ann Rice in high school - Definately worth it! I am hoping to buy the hardcovers and own them as I only used library copies in high school.

Chessa- TTW is awesome! Movie follows the story fairly well (better than Twilight & My Sisters Keeper did by far!) I cried like a baby at the end. Would love to hear your thoughts when you are finished.

Ann Marie - thanks for the site!!

I have read and own all of the Twilight books and the Sookie Stackhouse books. However, if you want the ultimate in vampire literature, Anne Rice. Interview with a Vampire is my all time favorite book. I read Anna Karenia on my maternity leave and with my recently unemployment have started it again.

I'm currently reading The Time Travelers Wife, and I'm in love :) I just recently read The Lovely Bones, and also Lucky by the same author. Both were AMAZING!! Lucky is her memoir, and it's a bit graphic, but definitely a story of perseverance and good conquering bad and all that. It was a bit rough to read at parts because in the back of your mind you know that what you're reading actually happened to her (she was raped as a freshman in college), but definitely worth it if you can handle that sort of stuff.

Other favorites are The Secret Life of Bees, and The Mermaid Chair by the same author. The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns (same author lol). Water for Elephants. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe.

The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly is a great read - I loved it!!! Then it's followed by The Winter Rose. Have read quite a few Jodi Picoult books which I enjoy but I don't think you could read them one after as they all pretty much have the same formula. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is also another good read. Am looking forward to reading the second and third books in the series.

I love reading aswell and was determined to carry on even though I had a baby. I think if you love it that much you'll make the time. :)

I love books too! I have read almost every single one of Jodi Picoult's books, including My Sister's Keeper, which is definitely worth the read! I have loved almost every one. A few others by her (to name a only a few!) Change of Heart, Salem Falls, Second Glance, The Pact, and Handle With Care. I also like Season of the Witch by Natasha Mostert (kept me wanting to read more and more). The Probable Future by Alice Hoffman was a good read. I have to say that by the time all of these movies recently came out I had already read the books and the books were much better than the movie! Like; The Secret Life of Bee's, The Lovely Bones, and My Sister's Keeper. I have read many others that don't really stick out. The ones I have recommended are very good. Truly...anything by Picoult is good, I like her writing style. The books by Mostert and Hoffman have a little of a magical twist, but are very well written :). What the Dead Know by Laura Lippman..also good. AND I must say that the book Wicked is a very entertaining read and nothing like the musical either. Sorry I have gone on and on, told you I love books! Good luck in your reading adventures.

So I've finished Time Travelers Wife and now own the movie and yes I cried like crazy in the last few chapers of the book but was able to hold back during the movie...I think it's because so much was left out. Entire characaters were cut. I've started My sisters Keeper and can only imagine it's going to be a tear jerker as well. I dont mind books like these because they remind me of all that I have and can be thankful for.

Your not alone in the emotion that Twilight brings up!! Eclipse the movie comes out in July and I'll drunk with excitement to see it! I cannot wait to read Sookie Stackhouse.

Funny, I bought my other half the whole of the Sookie Stackhouse series of books for Christmas and he bought me the Twilight series of books. Now we have just started watching Vampire Diaries. Loads of vampire related stuff out at the moment! Anyway, the True Blood seriies was definately erotic, and my OH says the books are even more erotic. Definately aimed at adults and not teens or pre teens. He says the books are good. My sister gave me My Sister's Keeper and I took one look at the synopsis and decided I couldn't read that. I can't read anything like that, doesn't matter if it is a true story or fiction I still end up crying. I can't be doing with that, I need a book to keep me uplifted or entertained. Although saying that I got emotional in the Twilght book when edward left, how bad am I.

We have The Time Travellers wife on DVD and also The Boy in Striped Pyjamas on DVD but I can't bring myself to watch them yet as I know I will cry for sure.

I need a really good new book to read, at the moment I am just re reading stuff I have read before and I am getting a bit fed up.

Sam- I also have read and own the entire Twilight series... screw the teens... it was a great series...lol. I know plenty of mamas that have or are reading the books. I'm considering getting the Sookie Stackhouse series as well; they correlate with the True Blood HBO TV series so there will be DVD's for each season. I hear it's a bit more erotic than Twilight though. In my purse currently is The Time Travelers Wife and that movie was just released on DVD so I will buy that once I am finished. Book isn’t as hard to follow as some say. I also have My Sisters Keeper on my bookshelf at home that is unread.

Just read the Twilight series, aimed at teens I think but I liked it. I love Nicholas Evans (Horse Whisperer, The Loop are my favourites) Also I like PJ Tracy. For an easy read I like good light hearted chick books.
