Hi! I am in MD and was a nanny for 10 years before I had my daughter I was getting $12 - 15 an hour. I started again when my daughter was 4 months (she comes with me) and now I get $10 an hour. If it is to much for a regular nanny maybe you could find a SAHM to watch your baby. Good luck!

I pay a friend of mine $5/hour when she watches my son in my house. Good luck finding someone!!

We pay $40 a day but I take him to her house on my way to work. We call her our nanny because she only watches my son and she treats him like her own child.

I used a great web site called nannies4hire.com and got hired from there and also found a nanny for my own daughter on that web site.

Thank you Chelsea for that information that is super helpful and I hope I can pay someone that much because I know we can afford that rate. I may just work part time so that I wouldn't need someone 40 hrs a week. Just got to sit down and figure out our money situation

I was a nanny in VT and for 40 hours a week I made $420.

If you go through a nanny service it will be quite pricey. Maybe look around for a friend that would be willing to come to your house?

A friend of mine nannied for awhile before she had kids and she was bringing in an average of $400 a WEEK..

Mind you she lived in north Dallas at the time and cost of living there is quite high.

Hey Sunrise thanks for the information I am in North Carolina. I have found some good nanny sites and recommendations from a friend that use to nanny. Still not sure if we can afford it. So mainly still in research mode.

I would assume you'd pay more than you would for a facility since the nanny is traveling to your home. Although the trade off for that might be that she is eating a meal or two while in your home. The going rate in a facility in MI averages about $4.50 per hour per child. In home at the providers house is NOT much different here in MI, maybe $3.75 per hour per child at the least. It really depends a lot on their credentials. Where are you located?
