Can anyone let me know what your feeding schedule's are now that your children have started on solids. My son is 5 months now and we just started him on veggies yesterday. He was one rice cereal for the past 3 weeks as well. Have you all noticed you child is taking less formula when taking solids. I'm trying to get a good schedule down for my son, and I don't want to overfeed him.

Thanks!

My daughter has just started veggies after a few weeks on the cereal. Most days she still consumes the same amount of formula, but I have noticed that she will not eat the cereal or veggies if she has just finished a bottle. Our day goes a little like this

6am -6oz of Formula

7:30-8:30 nap

8am -Cereal, then 4-6 oz of formula  (sometime after a nap, sometimes before)

11:30 - 6 oz

12:00- nap

2:30-3:30- 6 oz

3:30 - nap

5:30-6:30-  6oz -then 1/2 jar of Carrots (1/2 an hour to an hour later)

7 pm -bath

7:30 - 8 pm- 4-6 oz at bed time

We've done solids from the 4 month mark because my son was taking in over 49 oz of formula a day!  Here is our schedule:

2-3 am - 6 oz formula

6 am - 6 oz formula

8-8:30 - breakfast - oatmeal and 1/2 tub/jar of 1st fruits, 4 oz formula

11:30 - lunch - oatmeal and 1/2 tub/jar of 1st veggies, 4-5 oz formula

3-3:30 - snack time - 1/2 tub/jar or fruit, 5 oz formula

5-5:30 - dinner - 1/2 tub/jar veggies and 1/2 tub/jar fruit, 4-6 oz formula

9 or 10 pm - 6 oz formula

You'll begin to see that your baby will pick back up in ounces.  It took our son 2 months before he moved from 4-5 ounces to 6-7 ounces, plus his solids.  And he's increased his solids.  Instead of 1 Tbsp. of cereal he's now up to 2 Tbsp.  And he'll eat 2 jars of veggies.  Give it time and relax.  As long as your baby is growing and gaining weight, there isn't anything to worry about.

Hello! My little guy has been on solids for about 6 weeks now, he'll be 5 months on the 9th! Heres our schedule:

Wake up (times vary whenever he gets up so these are VERY approx.)9am- bottle 5oz/mixed cereal mixed with prunes

11am - bottle 7oz

1pm - veggies (half a jar) and bottle 2-4oz

3pm - bottle 7oz

5pm- mixed cereal with fruit and a fruit

7-8pm- bath then immediate bottle 7oz (he is starving after bath always lol)

10 pm- bottle then bed at 10:30

My little guy isn't on a 'napping' schedule, he naps when he wants i've tried the routine thing with him doesn't work. He usually takes a brief 20 minute nap after his 11 am bottle and a longer hour nap after his mid afternoon bottle, but no set time, and he wakes up if you put him in the crib, i just leave him wherever he falls asleep!

My baby is also 5months and he has been on solids for 6 weeks now. They do reduce the amount of milk they drink dramatically well my bub did. It's a matter of giving them enough solids to just fill them up and offering a bottle at the end of all solid feeds. It's still important to give them there milk so just take a little less solids and offer milk after each feed till he back to normal.

My son is 5 months and we started him on solids at 12 weeks.  He started to decrease his formula ounces, but he's gaining them back up again.  We asked the doctor about it and he said as long as he gets 24 ounces in a 24-hour period and gaining weight, he's fine.

Here is our schedule:

8:00 a.m. - Wake Up/Bottle (7oz)

10:00 a.m. - Solids (Rice Cereal/Oatmeal - 2 Tbsp.)/Bottle (2oz)

10:45 a.m. - Nap

12:45 p.m. - Wake Up/Bottle (7oz)

2:45 p.m. - Solids (Veggie - 1 jar)/Bottle (2oz)

3:30 p.m. - Nap

5:00 p.m. - Wake Up/Bottle (7oz)

6:30 p.m. - Solids (Cereal - 2 Tbsp./ 2 Veggies - 1/2 jar each)/Bottle (3oz)

8:00 p.m. - Bath

8:30 p.m. - Bottle (4-5oz)

8:45 p.m. - Bed

Now this is a guideline for us.  Some days he doesn't want his solids, but he'll always eat them at dinner time.  While other times he wants his solids 3 times a day.  Most of the time we can usually get solids in twice a day.  He just started to increase his bottles to 7 ounces, even though he's on solids.

I'm wondering the same thing myself. I do know that everything I've read says that "solid food should be a supplement" and that formula/breastmilk should not be reduced. My son will be 5 months on 9/5 and we've done 1 serving of rice cereal for 4 days in addition to the normal nursing schedule (he seems to still want every bit of milk though). I'm going to try a 2nd serving of rice cereal today (breakfast/dinner). I might try veggies in another 4 days.
