How many baths?

I was just reading through posts and I noticed that people are giving baths every night before bed. At 4 months, my doctor suggested only twice a week due to delicate skin. Should I be doing them every night now? I have twins and baths take about an hour so I really would rather not do that. Please let me know your routine, anyone with twins would be great!

I give my little girl a bath every other day. She has dry skin anyway & a touch of exczma too so I use products for babies with sensitive skin & a cream for exczma from the doctor afterwards...

...but my loves the bath so we enjoy bathing her, plus she is sick quite a lot so needs bathing more. I wouldn't worry too much about what other people do, especially if you have twins!! It is obviously twice the work so do watever is best for you & your babies. As long as they are dirty you don't need to worry :D

My son has Exzema so we bathe every other night with a mild soap delicate enough for his skin. We use Aquaphor Gentle wash for dry skin.

We give our 6 month old son a bath every other night. We were told by doctors and the hospital that you don't need to bath them every night, unless they really need it.

Im not sure where you live but Im living in central canada and before they release you from hospital care they go over infant at-home care with you, and one of the things they go over is nightly baths. Because your babies are already 4 months or age don't feel toooo bad if you skip a night, we do our son every other day, sometimes every third if we've had a busy weekend and hes 6 months old. I know it can be a bit tedious but they really do feel 100% better after. I usually go by the rule of "if I took a shower today, he should take a bath". That way his comfort is the same as my own, just like the 'if Im hot/cold he probably is as well' rule.

I bathe my daughter every night to get her routine in. I put just a drop of baby oil in the tub so that he skin doesn't get dried out.  She loves it, and it tires her right out for her night's sleep.

my bubba is gets a bath every day!!!!

I luv having my shower every day makes you feel clean and fresh. so i assume they like it too!

I use johnsons baby wash, doesnt dry there skin out, and i moisturise with johnsons baby sorbolene after his bath, and clean his ears out. we do the same every single bath time so he knows what to expect.

He loves bath time and can sit un assisted now so it doubles as a play time too!

our moisturising/ massage after the bath is a great bonding time, we both luv it!!!

I just give my baby one every 3 days or his skin dries out since we live in a dry climate.

My 6 month old gets a bath twice a day, morn and night. We live in a very hot climate and do lots of things outside so he gets all sweaty and uncomfortable. I use baby bath and lotion afterwards and he has perfect skin. He also does so many wees and poos i couldnt bear just wiping him down.

I bathe my daughter every three days, unless she gets extra dirty...like poopy diaper leaks, lots of spit up, or sweat. As long as your babies aren't smelling bad, I think it's good for their skin to skip a day or two.

My 6 month old gets a bath three times a week.  I lotion him every morning and every night before bed.  The doctor says this is fine and I don't need to do it more.  Every night, tho, I DO wash his face and in his neck rolls with a slightly soapy baby washcloth.  He never looks dirty or smells!

My little guy gets a bath every night just because he LOVES his bath and it's part of his bedtime routine. He doesn't get washed every night, just sits in a bubble bath. We have never had a problem with his skin. We have used baby oil as well. I also massage him every night with his bedtime lotion which keeps his skin soft and relaxes him before bed!

I still give my daughter a bath every other night or every two days. Her skin is dry and babies don't get that dirty at this age to HAVE to give them a bath every night. Its totally your preference.

I bath my little one every night, clean off supper and get her ready for bed. I don't always use soap, sometimes just a few drops of baby oil. I did this with all four of my kids. They never got dry skin. I am sure you don't have to do it every night though. Once every two three days should do the trick.

I do 3 times a week, and put lotion on him afterwards. I did the same with my older one. If I do anymore than that his skin definitely is drier.

i have twins as well and i have a routine of every tuesday, thurs and sat. i am home on those days and have the most free time on those days as well. i've got it down so that while one kid is hanging out i give one a bath, then lotion, diaper and put their clothes on them. then its on to the next one. if my husband is home he washes and i get them ready for the bath or change them when they are done. right now since they really cant sit up on their own to play i lay them in water up to their ears and just wash them. no playing until they can interact and sit up on their own. its hard with twins. but when i do no muss no fuss i can get them both bathed and dressed in 30 mins. of course once they get older it will take longer since we will have all of the fun bath toys to play with. and of course the bubbles!

I give my little one a bath only about 3 times a week (doctor's recommendations) so that I don't dry out her skin.  According to our doc, she doesn't need to be bathing every day until she gets older and her sweat and oil glands produce more.

I live in a dry climate. So I only bathe my son every three days so as to not dry out his skin. I will continue this until I think he is getting too dirty everyday. I do it as part of bed time and just start 15 min earlier on those nights. I wipe his face and hands with a clean cloth every morning and every night though!

I don't have twins - but do bath my little boy every night.  It's a great way of wearing him out!  However, I don't put any soap in the water.  He skin is perfect.

If they are on solids you will find food in all sorts of places (the neck is a good one!) so maybe every second day might be better?

My sister has twins, and she found the best way to bath them, was to only put enough water to come under their ears.  Then she lay them flat on their backs and let them kick and go mad, at the same time.  She did this until they were able to sit un-aided.  Saved lots of time.

Hope this helps.
