I thought this topic had been brought up previously, but I can't seem to find the thread!

I'm a bit concerned that my daughter only has four teeth (the front two, top and bottom) is this normal?

Thanks
Elizabeth

I am a little concerned about this too...my 17 month old has 4 on the bottom and 3 on top...and no signs of any more coming. She has been to the dentist already and she assured me kids all get teeth at different times and not to worry!

My son has 12 and is cutting another one but my friend's son only has four on top and four on the bottom. Her teeth will come in time don't worry too much about it.

mine has 8: 4 on the upper jaw & another 4 below. Dont worry about her teeth coming out late. In fact, someone once told me it's better, cos little kids don't know how to take care of their dentals & teething late means lesser chances of tooth decay in the later stage. :)

My son Will be 18 months in a couple of weeks and he has 12 teeth at the moment but more are on the way! He cries in the night when he is teething and gets the red cheeks but other than that he has been ok! There is no wrong or right time when your baby gets teeth so dont worry too much they are all individuals!

My daughter ig barely getting her 4th tooth. two on bottom and two on top and she just turned 17 months. tho when my boys were younger, they had more than that by the time they were 6 months. all kids are different. so no worries, it is normal. try not to compare her to others...she is one of a kind. =)

hi, as I have heard and read in some places, each child is a child, therefore you should not be worried...

my little princess has now 6 teeth top and 6 bottom, but as I know from friends, it really depends on each other, don't worry, they will come when it's time... :)

I wouldn't worry. My daughter is 17 and a half mo and two of her molars are just barely breaking through. She only has 4 top teeth and two bottom teeth other than those. They will come when they are ready!!!

My daughter started teething at 3 months old and had 8 teeth by her 1st bday. I didnt have any teeth by my first birthday. She now has all 20 teeth and I hope the 2nd molars hold off for a while since the canines were tough on her.

Its absolutely normal. My son has been teething since he was 2 months old. His last canine is showing and half way out. But his teeth came out pretty quick. He always had 2 teeth come out at about the same time. I think its due to the fact that I was taking Calcium supplements during my pregnancy. It was a recommendation by my mom. She said that 30 years ago they were required to do that. I asked my doc and she said its not necessary but I can still take it. I'm glad I did!

My son has most of his already, but mine all came in very early when I was a baby. My best friend's son (3 days older than mine) only has 6 or 8 and the first ones didn't come in till after he was a year old. Both she and her husband's teeth came in late when they were babies. Ask your pediatrician about it but it tends to be hereditary, if your teeth came in late so will your children's teeth.

Hello My 17 month old has all of her teeth except four. I think it all depends on the baby, they're all different but you should check with your doctor or dentist just in case. There may be vitamins or something that you can give her to help her teeth grow in. Good luck! :)

[deleted account]

Yup, totally normal. My guy had NO teeth till he was almost 1, and now only 7 teeth. I'm preparing for the teething frenzy myself!

My daughters exactly the same - 4 teeth only @ 17 months. But I'm not worried, I'm sure they'll come along. She's talking a whole lot more thn other kids her age. Maybe I'm more relaxed because she's my 2nd.

My daughter has all 20 of her baby teeth. She had all 20 of them at 12 months old, but then again, she cut her first 2 teeth at 3 months old!

I am getting a little concerned too, as my little boy only has 4 also! But I have been told that the later they come in, the stronger and healthier they will be... with proper care and hygeine of course.. and if your is anything like my child, they dont let it stop them from eating anything! So whats the harm I suppose!

All of them! 16. But he is an anomaly. He cut his first 8 by 7 months and then cut the second 8 by 13 months. Yes.... 8 teeth at once.... TWICE! He was .... intense... for a bit haha, but now he is super happy ;P

My dad is a dentist and he says that the longer it takes for teeth to come in the better!! Look at it this way she will have really healthy teeth! My 17 month old son just broke his 8th tooth two weeks ago. Don't worry it's normal.

My 17th month old daughter only has 5 teeth. She got her first tooth at 11 months old. I'm not really concerned because I know the teeth will come when they are ready to. Every baby is different, besides I breast fed my baby for 14 months so it was a blessing that she didn't have teeth lol. No bitting to worry about!! :-)

My son is 16 months, he has 16 teeth and the final four are making there way out. I'm going to have a "no more teething" party as soon as they're through! Teething has been a nightmare for him.

His little friend who is a similar age only has a few teeth...they all come through at a different time.

If it makes you feel any better, my daughter has 2 bottom teeth, and one top one is poking through just now. She'll be 17 months on the 29th. We've been told that she is perfectly fine, just a late teether. We still proudly (and gently, of course) brush them so she'll know what to do when they all come in!

Hi my daughter is 16 and a half months old and she has all of her baby teeth except for the back molars. she did however get 8 thru at a time before she was 7 months old. i grew teeth at 6 weeks so i guess babies get their teeth thru at different stages, if she doesnt get any teeth by the time she's 2 maybe take her to your dentist just for reassurance?

Luke popped his first tooth in May, 2009. On Halloween, I threatened to spray paint him orange and call him a Jack O' Lantern instead of buying him a costume because his ONE tooth was really tall, with no others at all in his little mouth. He's 17 months now, and has a whopping 4 teeth. His sister popped teeth out left and right, but not my boy. I heard somewhere that the longer they take to come in, the healthier the teeth are. I don't know if there is any truth to that or not...

my daughter did get teeth in really until she was one and I was worry before then because my niece had teeth before her 1st birthday but my step mom told me some babies can come in later in life so i stopped worrying An I think you should to because when they start to come in you going to wish them didn't because they get fussy and sometimes they can get sick

Ok so general consensus is they all get teeth at different times. My BFF has a daughter and she is a month older than my son. She has 8 teeth. My son is 17 months and is working on tooth 15 and 16. It is really a blessing when they get them later casue the older they get the easier it is to tell it is their teeth that are bothering them. My son had 8 teeth at 7 months and it was rough. Don't worry they will all get there with time.

Tuff only had 4 teeh at 1yo., with 4 more arriving around 15 months, but over the last month he has sprouted 2 upper molars, 2 bottom molars and is sooo cranky and prone to diaherrea. My older son had 12 teeth at one. Don't worry those teeth are comin, and if u dont see them by age 2, see a dentist.

I wouldn't worry at all my little Sadie is 17 months as of last friday and she has not cut one tooth yet. As they say they will come in when they are ready.
