I will be starting my baby on cereal soon. We have the bottle feeding down to an art and now I am trying to figure out how to introduce food. How often and how much do you feed the little munchkins? And than when do you start introducing fruit and veggies?

I started my baby at 3 and a hlf months. I started him on cereal very ittle dose and then increased that for a week. Then added another meal during the night of vegeies and waited a week before adding lunch. My son now is still on 3 meals a day but i haven't increased the amount once i found an amount i thought was right i left it and just offer him a bottle at the end of all feeds as milk is the main source of food for them.

I started cereal in his bottle at about 3 1/2 mo. About 2 tbs in his 8 oclock bottle(helped with sleeping at night) I started feeding my son fruit/veg as soon as he had good head/neck control, at about 4 months. he gets a feeding of fruit in the day and 1/2 veg container at night and still gets formula too. the fruit and vegs have "empty calories". He did not like getting the rice cereal by spoon, so i went right to fruit and veg. He started with applesauce and now he is eating all kinds of things and starting juice! but it is best to ask your doctor since all babies are diff. Good Luck!!

my son started rice cereal at 2 months about. hes also very big and he drank about 7 bottles each of 8oz so when i told his pediatrician he suggested i start him on cereal and now at 4 months he suggested we start feeding him yellow veggies because apparently people dont have as much a reaction to them or something. i have had the advice of not feeding fruits first because they will like the sweetness and they wont want to eat the veggies... also to not mix bananas or apple with rice cereal because it will make them constipated.

hi there, i have a four month old and she is seen by a speech and languge therpist because she doesn't take a bottle or breast, she is tube fed through her nose! sound horrible but she used to it. Anyway, they said to me to put her on fruit and veg first to get textures coz baby rice is full or gluten and wheat which plays on there digestive system and not to introduce it til 6 months. but Fruit and Veg should be ok at 4 months. you only give them a couple o fteaspoons, at what ever time of day suits you, I've always done it in the morning with my other coz then it's out of the way and they won't get there clothes dirty if done later.

hope this helped good luck and keep plenty of bibs handy

We just started cereal on Saturday and also have a very regular nursing schedule. I nursed on one side in the morning, fed him 1 tablespoon of cereal mixed with 4 tablespoons of breastmilk and then finished off by nursing him on the other side.

I am wondering the same thing. My baby just turned 4 months. How old is yours? I'm planning to talk to my pediatrician about it at his appointment next week before I start him. I'm afraid she'll want to wait because when he was 2 months, he got a bad rash/eczema that we thought was from a milk allergy. 2 weeks ago, though, we started him on milk-based formula again, and he hasn't had any problems. I think he's ready to start cereal. Today he had a 6-oz bottle, went to sleep, and then woke up again in an hour screaming with hunger and had another 4 oz. Would it be better to wait because of possible allergies?

i started my daughter on rice cereal right around 4 months.  I did one tablespoon cereal and 4-5 tablespoons formula.  over time, i added more cereal to make it a thicker texture.  after a month of cereal, i started yellow veggies (carrots, squash, sweet potatoes) and after she's had those for 2 weeks, i will do green veggies.  after another 2 weeks, i'll start fruits and then meats.  that is just a schedule from my daughter's pediatrician, so you may want to see if your pediatrician has a different schedule.  hope it goes well!

we started our boy at 4 months. The doctor said two tablespoons of rice cereal with about 5 tablespoons of formula mixed in with it  in the morning then at night.  About 10 days after, start introducing veggies first. Then fruits

I started my son on solid foods at three and a half months. I  started with very watery baby rice as one meal a day and after about a week I started with mashed potato / carrots. I spoke to my health visitor and she said that bland veggies such as potato / carrot and courgette and the best until they get used to eating and gradually introduce stronger flavours.

When i started my son ( it was a week before he turned 4 months). I started feeding him one meal a day and would only give him a little bit but make it very watery until he got the hang of eating from a spoon. and gradually increased the consistancy. I think as long as your baby is eating the rice cereal you can move on to oatmeal and barley cereal, then onto the fruites and veggies. Just make sure not to feed your baby more than one new food every three days, to make sure there is no allergic reaction to it. but it would be best to talk to your pediatrician about when to start, they often have very different views on this.
