Insect repellents

Hi, it was on the news here in Miami that there was a case of Dengue Fever...
So they suggest that whenever you are out by masses of water where there will be mosquitoes to cover up and wear insect repellent... Well, I was wondering which insect repellents are safe for toddlers??? or what tricks do you use to repell bugs?

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

We've had a wet summer, and there is standing water in a lot of the ditches and so on; we have a bumper crop of skeeters and West Nile is a concern here, too. I haven't bought one of the Off fans because Consumer Reports found they weren't as effective as the regular old repellents. My pediatrician said that DEET repellents are fine for toddlers, but I still don't put it on her hands. I bathe her after we apply the stuff, and let her have some extra play time in the tub to wash it off.

I use the off tropical scent for my toddler and for my infant I use the off clip on. They both work pretty well. We have West Nile Virus out here so I am pretty careful.
