is it ok to add sugar to formula?

My son is 4mo old and he won't take formula. I think he prefers breast milk because its sweeter. Is it ok to add a tiny bit of sugar to formula?

Not OK to add sugar.  Similac Organic is sweeter, but one thing we had a problem with on that is constipation.  Nestle Good Start is so close to breastmilk, I'd suggest that.  It's the only formula my son would take after I stopped breastfeeding because it is sweeter.

I don't think that is a good idea. Both formula and breast milk are complete foods they do not need anything. If you were breastfeeding first and are switching to formula you have to do it gradually. I agree with mixing them together at first. Also putting sugar in formula now can set your little one up for a weight problem in the future.

No

If you want a sweeter formula, try Similac Organic for a bit. It's supposedly 30% sweeter than the average formula because it's made with sucrose. Check with your doctor about keeping him on it for longer. I mixed regular Similac with my breastmilk for a while and my son seems to tollerate that. He always prefers the real thing though :-)

Good luck!
