I'm looking to wean my daughter off the breast to formula. I compared the prices of the brandname products and the no name brands. I would like to save some money but am not sure if buying no name formula is the way to go....

Is there a real difference?

Just compare the ingredients on both formulas, most are the same.  Make sure that you get a formula that is iron fortified though.  If you are anything like me, ou may have to try a few different formua's before you get the right one.  One kind may make them gassy, another may make them constipated, and another they may not like the taste of.  Try calling a dietician, they really help with any formula questions you have :)

If your baby doesn't have to have any special formula (like for gassiness or spit up) and you don't give her brand name first, then off-brand should be fine. I've been told (by a doctor) that the ingredients are the same in both, and you can check that yourself on the cans. I think they taste different, but if your baby never has tasted name brand formula, then she won't know the difference. :)

I asked my doctor about this and she said that the generics are the same. It really helps to save all that money. Also if you have a Sam's club or Costco, it's even cheaper. I thought they would expire before we used them up since you have to buy 2 jars at a time, but we used them up and then some. I think the costco brand is 20 dollars for 2 big jars.
