I just got mine removed after 3 years, but only becuase we are TTC... But I did bleed for about 5-6 weeks after I first got it.... It was pretty bad... But after that initial bleeding stopped, I had no issues. I loved the Mirena. After this baby I am going to get it again.. And hopes my husband will get snipped!!!

i am on it and i haven't had any problem. when i first got it put in a bled maybe a month but nothing heavy, just light. i have gotten regular periods since but all have been light. no mood swings or anything of that nature. i did have a parter complain of the "poking" but i went to the doctor and had them shorten the strings and no complaints since. i got it put in back in November of 2008 and haven't had any problems.

I am still bleeding and it has been a month and a half. Not a bad price to pay if it means I won't have my period for 4 years, though ;o)

I have no problems with Mirena at all accept maybe some water retention. I would work out like crazy and it was so hard to get below prebaby weight but of course doable. I have had it for two years and have been period free which is a HUGE plus and I never have to worry about birth control. I highly recommend it as a BC. I know it is supposed to take awhile to stop the bleeding because your body is "adjusting" I bled for about two months too but then nothing since then! If you can feel it then you need to go back into your doctors and get the wire trimmed. Once you get it trimmed you won't be able to feel it at or even during sex! Hope this helps :)

i love the Marena! its the best thing ever yes i bleed for like 3 1/2 months but it got lighter and lighter and then i had none at all i have had it in for over 2 years now i did feel it but over time u will not i still to some times during inter course but other then that i love it have not bleed since Feb.2009!!! "LOVE IT"

@ Delia.... mine was awesome for a year and then like a few months after that is when the weird stuff started happening. I hope it continues to work for you but just know if you start feeling like a nut case it may be the IUD.

i am so sorry to hear that you all have had such a negative experience with the IUD...I got it exactly a year ago this month and i love it...i dont ever get my period, or even bleed anymore..i have gained weight, but i cant completely say its because of the IUD since i did stop smoking the same week i got the IUD...but one thing i can complain about is that my husband says it pokes him on occassions....but other than that i think its great...

It was very handy to read this, I myself have been bleeding since I gave birth to my 2 yr old exactly 2yrs and 1month ago, yes every day i have not had a break from bleeding for the whole 2yrs, my dr has even tried giving me the strongest pill and it hasnt worked, he now is suggesting I get mirena, he tells me it should stop the bleeding in 99% of women, but after reading ur comments I am not so sure i want it....... any further comments would be appreciated.

I was on mirena and i was miserable ... i bled for like a yr pretty much staight had maybe a couple days off a mth. my hormones were crazy like i was pregnant (mood swings, cravings, plus i gained weight) not very pleasant like they make it sound mine and my husbands sex life was non-existant but once i got it taken out i felt 100% better.... good luck and if ur smart you'll get it taken out too

I was on it for a year. first I could feel it stabbing me while walking or during inter course. I only bleed for about a week but spotting. After a year of it I became really depressed, mood swings, my face broke out, my hair was falling out, and had no libido, I had started to have a smell down there that wasn't there before. I wasn't me. My doc told me there was no side effects but when I read about other women on it and they were experiencing the same things I went to my doctor and had it removed, she then told me that 2% of women go through this. I told her about all the other women not knowing what is up with them. with in a week i was becoming normal again. Many women are going through this and are completely unaware that it is in fact mirena. i would never recommend mirena to my worst enemy!!
