ok so this may sound odd but i still use a baby monitor for my son cause i am a heavy sleeper. at 2am he woke up crying like he had been hurt by something. if i did not have the monitor i would not have heard him cry. i know that sounds bad but that is just how i sleep. when i went into his room he was shaking really bad and just screaming. i put him in our bed and noticed that he was kinda warm so i took his temp and it was 102.1 in the ear so i gave him a dose of childres tylonal. after about an hour and a half or so his fever went down so i went to put him back in his room and he would not go in at all he just freaked out. he kept saying that there was a bug on the floor that was "eating" him. i asked him were and he said on his foot. i looked at his foot and there was nothing there no sings of any bites but he just kept insisting that there was a bug. i was able to get him to go back in his room with a movie and go back to sleep but he as never done anything like this in the past and dont know why he would start now. could have have been bitten by something and there was no sign of it on his body that could have caused that high of a fever or could it just have been the fever making him a little off? any ideas of what i can do to help him out with this so it dont happen again. at least the waking up at night saying that there are bugs in his room.

He could have had a nightmare. It becomes more common at this age. His temp could be totally unrelated.

I would agree that with Nicole that he may have been dreaming. With a fever of 102, he was clearly sick and was probably screaming because he did not feel well and wanted you for comfort. I would not worry about it being a bug, that seems rather far fetched, especially if you did not notice any marks on his skin. Hopefully things have been better for you since you posted!

Sounds like he might have had a nightmare if his foot doesn't look hurt he might have dreamed that something bit it. A scare like that can also raise body temperature. I'm not sure how much the temperature might have raised though.

With the not feeling well (fever) and not being fully awake, I suspect he was still dreaming. Our kids imaginations are running a million miles a minute these days.
Is there a book or video that he has that has lots of bugs?
Is there any way you can take him some place where he can see and handle some bugs to see how harmless they are to him.
Try limiting really stimulating shows and foods before bed.
When he has woken up, just be there reassure him and be patient. It's just a likely a bad dream. Talk about dreams and how they are not real but things we see while we are sleeping.

Good luck!
