My son has never loved formula and he seems to be not loving milk as well. He will take a few sips but we cannot get him to finish it -ever. We have tried adding chocolate syrup, ready made chocolate milk, drinkable yogurt...and he still prefers water. Any other tips?

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem. I stopped breastfeeding at 11 1/2 months and he refuses to drink milk. Just in the last month he stopped spitting it at you if you tried feeding it to him. I too have tried chocolate, strawberry syrup and even vinilla flavored formula nothing has worked so far. Now I have a few more things to try thanks!

Try warming it and adding some honey to the milk .. I do that in the evenings for my 15 month old and it seems to help him drink more milk

Neither one of my children liked milk so my Pediatrician recommended taking any other drinks away until they start drinking milk, it sounds barbaric, it hated doing it both times. However, it worked both times in about a day, they won't let themselves get too thirsty. Now both my children love milk.

I had problems switching my son to milk when he turned 1. I finally tried 2% milk and he loves that. The whole milk was too strong for him.

I found that my daughter doesn't like her milk cold from the fridge. I don't warm it because I don't want to be stuck always doing something I may not be able to (ex. if we are out somewhere) - I simply pour it and leave it sit out just a little to take the real cold temperature away. She also will drink juice and water from a sippy cup great but will only drink her milk from a bottle. When I put it in a sippy, she only takes a taste and gives it back. Being only 15 months, I am not worried about her still using the bottle - right now I'd rather her drink her milk and if that is what it takes...... Good Luck. Keep trying, it takes time to adjust to new foods/drinks :>)

My son is allergic to all dairy. It gives him horrible rash. I give him soy milk. He likes the sweetness of it and I compared the nutritional facts and they are pretty much the same.

I was having problems when I switched my son to whole milk. He loved formula but could not drink regular milk. The milk would make him fussy when he would drink it. His pediatrician recommended putting him on lactose free milk because he might have a milk alergy. I did and he loves it. I've had no more problems getting him to drink his milk.

Unless your doctor recommends doing so I would not switch him to anything..
Some kids just don't like milk and there is nothing wrong with that. Does he eat yogurt/cheese or any other dairy products? He can get the same nutrients from those things as he can from milk.

Like Dawn said mix it half and half to help him adjust to the taste, I wouldn't sweeten it or alter it or you'll be stuck doing that forever, just start with say 7 oz of formula and an ounce of milk and then keep gradually adding more and more till you don't have to use any formula at all. That is what I've done with all four of my girls and they have done exceptionally well at switching to cows milk. I wouldn't worry about him finishing his milk either, just put the extra back in the fridge and offer it to him again. 15 month olds are notorious for losing some weight, it's just thier age they are more interested in running around and playing then eating! Atleast my girls are!

You can buy milk Lactose (sometimes sold as milk sugar) and make the milk sweeter, naturally. It might help and the lactose is good for him at this age. If he still won't drink it just make sure the solid food you give him has a lot of calories. I had to up my son's intake since even breast milk, cows milk (daycare), plus his normal food wasn't enough for him. His growth kept on slowing down (more than it's suppose too). I started using butter (the real stuff), coconut oil, more meat, lots of dairy (cheese, yogurt) and his growth shot up.

Hi, my son is 15 months old and loved formula but isnt loving milk that much at all either, the only thing that has worked for us is diluting his milk with water(half of each)

He drinks juice or water in the daytime and milk closer to the evening now, at first it worried me but ive tried to relax a little about it and it seems to have worked and he is drinking a little more milk now, hope this helps good luck x
