Switching to Whole Milk!?!

my daughter will be 1 on the 24th. i stopped breastfeeding at 10 1/2 mo (she completely lost interest in it). i was giving her formula for the first 2 weeks then i starting topping the bottle off with milk. after a few days, i started making it half formula, half milk. when i gave her a plain milk bottle she refused it until i added a splash of choc syrup. now she'll take it straight from the fridge.

my son will also be 1 on the 23rd and he has been on whole milk since may I started giving it to him cold with chocolate and that is when he got use to the cold stuff, after that he just took the cup no matter what it had in it

i have the same problem! my daughter will be one on the 26th and the same thing...she wont drink it. my friend suggested warming the milk but i havent done it yet. hopefully that might help.

I gave my daughter 6 oz of HOT formula with 2 oz of 2% milk and every week I would lower the amount of formula and raise the amount of milk. I am giving her 2% because it has all the same nutrients and the same amount of them just way less fat. It took about 3 weeks for me to get her completely switched to Milk but she doesn't mind it cold.

I agree with the rest of the women. My daughters Ped. said to slowly switch her over to whole milk and by Sept. 8th, her birthday she was completely on whole milk. Just like formula and breast milk can be brought to room temp. without the milk going bad, just don't warm it to much.

I've been mixing 2oz milk with 4 oz formula Tomorrow I am going to start doing 4 oz milk 2 oz formula. Then after a couple days completely switch over If you breastfeed you can substitute your milk with the formula. My little one don't like it either, so we are weening her.

My son was apposite..He hated formula & wanted whole milk as soon as he got off breast. Try warming up the milk...BUT they also make formula now that is supposed to be wayy better than switching your child to whole milk. its for 9-24 month kids.

Substitute half whole milk and half formula and warm the milk just as you always have. I slowly added more whole milk and warmed the bottle a little less each day. My son has now made the switch to whole milk and only has two bottles a day; one in the morning when he wakes, and one just before bedtime. The rest of the day he gets his calcium from yo baby and cottage cheese. All of his drinks are distributed through his sippy cup and consist of water and one cup of 100% juice. All in all, he made the switch fine and is doing great!! Good luck!

Try giving him half formula and half whole milk. You can still warm it up since that's what he's used to. Then gradually take out the formula and give whole milk. He'll eventually get used to the taste.

When my son was ready for milk I tried but he just didn't like it so what i did was I made about 6 ounces of formula and 2 ounces of milk mixed together. He started to drink the milk like that and each day I increased the milk by half an ounce and decreased the formula by half and ounce and by the end of the week he was drinking milk without formula. Hope this helps.

I to would warm the milk. My son always had room temp bottles but when I put him on milk I did take the chill off for him for a few times and now he is drinking it right from the fridge. He was a year old on the 3rd.
