Baby Signing time is great..if you don't already have it ..go get it....We have both the CD and DVD for Baby signing times 1 and 2 and are getting 3 and 4. We have been using the cd's since he was 1 month old..He came to love the songs and it was so easy to add the signs as he got older...we are holding off on the dvd's, he has seen them maybe once or twice ( we are not big on having children under 2 watching tv).

The whole family knows the songs and sing and sign along:)

My little guy absolutely LOVES the signing time DVDs. He now demands them by saying "Signing? Signing Signing!?" He's 15 months. It's so cute. He has learned so many signs from the DVDs its amazing. We have expanded our ASL to include lots of things we say every day and he is picking them up so fast it's unbelievable. And hubby and I are learning a new language too! How cool is that? :)

My daughter LOVES them too! I don't have a problem letting her watch the dvds ... we usually watch together and practive the signs. She can make SEVERAL of the signs and will even initiate them herself. Now almost 16 months old she also enjoys the signing time dvds. We watched Zoo Train a couple time before going to the zoo and she got SO excited when she saw the animals she could sign! Her fav character is Hopkins and we have the stuffed animal.

We first started watching the dvds when she was pretty young. She actually slept and I watched. Then, when I went back to work (she was about 6 months), they helped keep her happy for 10 min while I showered. Once she became mobile she would watch the parts she knew or liked but was usually playing while it was on. Now, she will ask for them and sit for the whole thing. We interact with her and the video as she signs along. Her first sign was milk. One of her first words was baby. One morning when she was about 9 or 10 months old she was saying baby while moving her hands. It took me a bit of time but I finally realized she was trying to make the sign for "signing". That's when I knew she enjoyed the dvds.

Totally right!! My daughter learned 5 signs off of baby signing time vol 1 very easily (11 months). She makes it fun with the songs and has actual babies signing which is nice.

My son and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Baby Signing Time!!

He is six months old now and recognizes many signs already. I can't wait until he starts making the signs himself. He loves the videos, and especially loves when Rachel is on screen, haha!

I just got the DVDs from the library too and I think they're great but maybe better for older (older than my 7mo old) daughter who wasn't even a little bit interested in them....also I think it's harder at her age to associate what they're doing with something real (like eating a banana). She seems to make the connections better when we (my husband and I) sign as we're doing those things...we might try the DVD again in a few months.

I'm also not a big TV person for little babies but I made an exception last week and let our little guy (14 months) watch his first show: Signing Time. You're right, they're awesome DVD's and I can get them from the library so there's no need to buy. What's neat too is we do the signs along with the video and my 6 year old gets a kick out of helping his brother along with the signs. I didn't know there was CD's too...hmm, I guess I need to get back to the library. Signing is so much fun with him!!
