Today is DD 6 month birthday, and I'm really interested in starting to sign with her but I'm not sure how to start. I know that starting with words like milk, more, all done etc, are a good idea, but HOW do you start doing this? Any tips for getting other family members on board with this also?

Just jump right in. Every time you give her milk, say and sign "milk". Every time you ask her if she wants more cereal, say and sign "more". Tell the people in your life that you are doing it and ask them to join in - my loved ones were only happy to join in on the signing fun. My husband, our parents, our friends and even the preschool my daughter goes too thought it was a great idea and got on board quite easily. She's 20 months now and signs a ton (we continue to sign, although many people stop after they start speaking). It's nice to continue signing because we have our own secret language. We play games and sign to each other in public. For example, we sign about the food she's eating or what we see without talking. She's also learning to sign the alphabet and what sounds the letters make, so we play games with the letters too. It just cracks my girl up and keeps us all happy when we go out to eat or ride in the car.
